Hamburger Hash Recipe

Traditional hash recipes call for potatoes, but this version uses rice with terrific results. Busy folks like this recipe's short ingredient list and quick preparation time.—Rose Marie Shebetka, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (11-1/2 ounces) condensed chicken with rice soup, undiluted
  • 1-1/3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice


  • 1. In a skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add soup, water and rice; mix well. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Yield: 3 servings.

"I added chopped onions to boost the flavor. I also add some broccoli that was about to go bad, so I just chopped it up and added it to make it a 1 pot meal. Husband loved it. It was a good way to stretch a 1/2 pound of hamburger."
