Reviews for Ground Beef Gravy
"I loved this recipe but because I don't eat beef, I made some changes. I used ground turkey, chicken broth and i added some cayenne pepper! Yummy"
"Quick, easy, could make it with ground turkey to make it cheaper and lower fat and the family loved it!"
"This is an awesome quick weekday dinner recipe. Served over leftover mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving. So easy to prepare and everyone in my family, which covers ages 12-84, loved it!! I didn't have any basil and I did add carrots with the onions but otherwise followed the recipe and it came out great. Definite keeper."
"This is an excellent and easy weekday recipe. I always adjust the spices, based on my broth, so that it won't be too salty. I also use flour instead of cornstarch, to thicken the sauce. I add green beans to the mixture. Even my very picky child loves this!"
"I am just a learner, so I do my best, just love you cookery book, I really did not like the gravy, I much prefer the liquid type, it was a little salty."
"I really liked this recipe. It was super easy and tasted like home. It was a bit salty though. Maybe you could use reduced sodium broth and cut out the seasoned salt, but try it and see what you think. I like salt myself. Ha ha."
"This is surprisingly tasty for simple comfort food. My sons really liked it. I increased the meat to 2 lbs to suit their appetites and decreased the garlic powder to 1 teaspoon. Try it - don't let its simplicity fool you."
"Tastes close to what my grandma used to make =)"
"I make this at least once a month. It is easy and great tasting.. I serve over potatoes. Me and the kids don't like onions but I put them in the food processer twice and you cannot even tell they are in this.. I and the kids eat it.. I dont use as much parsley as it says though..."
"Mmmmm - wonderful sauce flavor. I used 12 oz. organic beef broth & 1 tsp. organic Better Than Bouillon beef base and 1/4 tsps. basil, marjoram, parsley & garlic powder. Decreased ground beef to 1/2 lb. Hubby ate it - YAY! I changed the sodium by using 1/4 tsp. each seasoned & Himalayan salt. Made garlic mashed potatoes."
"For a simple recipe, this is very tasty! At first, I was tempted to say "Aw the heck with it" and just use a dry or canned gravy, but I'm glad I didn't! Just a few tweaks - I cut the garlic powder down to 1 teaspoon instead of 1 tablespoon. Otherwise I think the garlic would have been overwhelming. And I added peas to make it a full meal - you could add any veggies you want. Also, next time I will increase the amt of the cornstarch and remaining broth to make a little more gravy. I like the idea someone had of adding French-fried onions at the end. All in all, an above-average busy night's dinner."
"I found it very easy and definately tasty."
"add vegys and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and you got a shepherds pie, thats why its so good. next time i'm going to crumble cheese and fried onions on top use half the basil and parsley :) maybe even use cheddar mashed potatoes"
"Tried this recipe based on the high reviews. Will not make again. I cut the parsley, basil and garlic powder in 1/2. Still over powering taste of parsley and basil."
"goes well with mixed vegetables"
"Delicious!!!! a keeper...I used beef consumme` broth instead of plain beef broth."
"This dish obviously had some very highly recommended reviews, however I didn't care for the taste. I believe the Parsley and especially the basil dominated the flavor of this dish. I say half the amount of both spices and possibly add the beef broth UNDILUTED to give it a richer more balanced flavor. It has great potential, though."
"Very good gravy, taste good with mashed potatoes. Would recommend it to anyone, but I needed another meat to accent the dish!"
"For such a simple list of ingredients, this was the tastiest beef recipe I've ever tasted. We will definitely make this recipe again and often.Lorie"
"This is so easy and so delicious. It goes along way which makes it an inexspensive meal. I served it over mashed potatoes. YUMMY"
"VERY GOOD. JUST LIKE THE ONE MY MOTHER MADE US KIDS YEARS AGO...GOING TO MAKE FOR MY GRANDKIDS."
"My whole family loves it, I'll have company over and make it again. It's really great comfort food. I served it over mashed potato and made rolls & green beans on the side."
"Hubby and I just didn't care for this at all. But as you can see we are in the minority."
"I luv this recipe, I've made it several times since discovering it."
"this was so goooood. i added extra cornstarch to make it a bit thicker...and did more onion than it called for. it was very, very filling...and is inexpensive!"
"I found it to be very tasty. Didn't change anything. I mashed potatoes and carrots left over from last night and put the Ground Beef Gravy over it. Yummy."
"I have made something simlar for years but I add mushrooms and niblets mexican corn to it. I love the left overs too."
"This looks delicious. Can't wait to try it. Kedi"
"I make this all the time. I am a little lactose intolerant and this gravy is right up my alley instead of milk gravy (white) which gives me a tummy ache. It is warm and cozy cooking! Thanks,Shera L."
"Great recipe! Delicious flavor and tastes great with mashed potatoes. Definitely a keeper!Thank you for sharing.Debbie H, Tenn."
"This is lovely.I do however reduce the cornstarch a little for my own taste but we just love this meal, i'll tend to do some roast potatoes with it and vegetables but you just can't beat mashed potatoes.Great recipe, thank you."
"Just made this for dinner, my husband & I both loved it. I doubled the meat, beef broth and spices. thanks for the recipe!jpsluis"
"I made this dish this evening because I was looking for something different to do with ground beef. I followed the recipe, but added a little worchestershire sauce when I browned the meat. It was good, and will probably make it again, but next time, I think I will use 1/2 the amount of basil and parsley that it called for. Was just a little too strong for my tastebuds. Thanks for your recipe."
"I just made this dish and it was delicious! My husband is a meat-lover, I am not and we both thought it tasted great. I didn't have beef broth and so I just used water. I also 1/2 the recipe for just the two of us and it made plenty. MMMmmm!"
