  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons each finely chopped onion, celery, green pepper and sweet red pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • Assorted crackers

Nutritional Facts

1/4 cup: 274 calories, 22g fat (10g saturated fat), 44mg cholesterol, 277mg sodium, 16g carbohydrate (11g sugars, 2g fiber), 6g protein.


  1. In a small bowl, combine cheeses. Stir in the cranberries, vegetables and pepper sauce. Shape into a ball; wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. Roll cheese ball in pecans. Serve with crackers. Yield: 2 cups.

"This was delicious and everyone loved it! I didn't add the celery because I'm not a fan and the only suggestion I got was to perhaps add some pecans to the inside as well. :)"

"An excellent cheese ball recipe very similar to one I used make years ago. I did not add the celery and I did a very fine dice of the other vegetables. I also chopped the cranberries. I made a day ahead for flavors to meld together before rolling in the nuts. My guests raved about this recipe."

"I'm surprised this has so many five star reviews. There are too many flavors in this and they don't go well together. I think this would taste much better without the celery, peppers and possibly the onion. Cranberries just don't go with raw celery, onions and peppers."

"This is a delicious and easy cheese ball and the first I ever made. I will not return to store-bought cheese balls and logs now that I see how quick and easy and TASTY a homemade cheese ball can be. I used blue cheese instead of Gorgonzola (because it's what I had on hand). Whether accidentally or by design, I left out the celery. I had read reviews that it overwhelmed the other ingredients. I didn't miss it at all. Can't wait to share this at gatherings with family and friends this year and in the years to come."

"I made this with feta instead of Gorgonzola, had a yellow pepper so used that instead of the red and green, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It disappeared so fast and everyone wanted the recipe. Absolutely delicious."

"To tell the truth, a co-worker has been after me to make her a cheeseball. I thought if I found one with strange ingredients it would be so bad she would stop asking. No offense, I picked this recipe. After all, blue cheese, cranberries, hot sauce? Come on! Boy was I wrong! This is the best cheeseball I have ever made! Everyone at work loved it! Men and women. I followed the recipe to a "T". Celery, peppers, everything. Please don't pass this cheeseball recipe by. It's a must try! Even for doubters like me. Plus it's so easy to throw together!"

"I made this tonight for a party. Everyone really liked it. I did not add celery because I do not like it and I added about a tsp of Worcestershire sauce. Also I used maybe 1/3 cup blue cheese because I didn't want that flavor to be too strong. Will definitely make again, even my kids loved it!"
