- 6 medium onions, sliced and separated into rings
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 6 medium tart red apples, cut into 1/4-inch wedges
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- In a large skillet, cook the onions in butter over medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Top with apples; sprinkle with brown sugar. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until apples are tender. Yield: 8 servings.

"I found this to be a very tasty dish! Of course, I purposely DID tweak this recipe to fit my own needs! I used 1 large TO 2 large yellow onions , 1/4 cup butter, 6 medium red apples, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1/4 cup juice (apple OR orange juice). I'd cooked onions in a large skillet over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. I topped with the apples; added the juice and sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon. I covered and cooked 15 to 20 minutes just until apples were tender. I'm glad to have made this dish FINALLY-this recipe is definitely one I'll turn time and again! "I have made this several times & it always gets eaten up. I always melt the butter with the brown sugar then add the onions, cook them a few minutes then add the apples."
"First-medium heat is too hot for onions unless they are supposed to be burned! When the apples were added, they were turned to mush in 5 minutes, the recipe says 15-20 minutes, not anything like the photo! The taste was "BLAH" to say the least! I cannot fathom "anyone" asking for "seconds"! This obviously "slipped past the tasters" at taste of home!!"
