Reviews for Fresh Mozzarella & Tomato Salad
"I would like to take this salad to a family labor day picnic. I have close to two hours to travel. Will the avocado's hold up (without turning color) for this amount of time or should I hold it out and add it right before serving?"
"One reviewer noted the expense of the cheese. It would be easy to use the large ball of mozzarella and just cut into cubes. That might lower the cost for you and retain the pretty look of the salad."
"great flavor! I had shredded cheese. would not recommend. Robbed this dish of eye appeal and gave it a grainy texture."
"This is a delicious salad and I loved it. My kids were home this weekend and they loved the added avocado!"
"Very refreshing! I used cherry tomatoes instead of plum and right before I served it I sprinkled pine nuts on top...."
"I did not use the fresh mozzarella cheese pearls; I used 8 ounces of block cheese. I added more tomatoes and used one avocado; no mint. I liked it. My family wasn't crazy about this, but I sort of expected that...not really their style. However, I liked it and am looking forward to taking it to lunch tomorrow."
"I haven't tried this, but it sounds very good so gave it good ratings. I wanted to chip in my 2cents here and add that I make something very similar, but instead of making my own marinade, I cheat and use Kraft Italian Pesto dressing & marinade and we love it! There may be other Italian Pesto dressings out there, but this is the one I like and I can find it here and there. I've had to search at times, but it's worth it. I've also just used the Italian Vinegarette and it's also very good. It was mentioned that the dressing is a little bland, but I don't think you'll find it so with either of these pre-mades. It's also much faster!"
"OMW!!!!!! What a great salad."
"As one reviewer notes the dressing is a bit bland. I kick mine 'up a notch' a bit of rice wine vinegar (a little goes a long way)."
"Seriously good! I added a little more salt but it is a great salad!"
"I found the dressing to be bland, although the salad does have potential."
"I was pleasantly surprised how well my family liked this salad! It was a hit!"
"I love this fresh recipe especially with fresh tomatos. Its great for a warm day cookout. I left out the mint because it didnt sound appealing and it was just as tasty."
"This was very good but quite expensive to make - I paid $7.99 for the cheese alone!!! I left out the mint because we don't like the taste of it..."
