- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup hot water
- 1/2 cup baking cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Confectioners' sugar
- In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Add egg and butter; mix well. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Yield: 9 servings.

This is one of the best chocolate cake recipes I have tried. It is so moist! I doubled it with no problem. I also added 1 teaspoon or so of espresso powder to bring out the chocolate flavor a little more. Thanks for the recipe! This will be my go-to chocolate cake recipe from now on.
