Reviews for Easy Ziti Bake
"I read some of the reviews before making it and added more sauce and some Italian seasoning to the to the cheese mixture. I also used ground chuck and ground pork. It was delicious. My family ordered that I make it again! It didn't layer like it said t would. I think it would be easier to mix everything together and pit it in the pan."
"I cut the noodles and beef amount in half and as I didn't have ziti or ricotta, I used macaroni and cottage cheese, but used the full amount of everything else. It is very good. It does make a lot, so will do leftovers tonite. Will definitely make again with the ziti and ricotta."
"Didn't change a thing. But, the pan was very heavy when I removed it from the hot oven, so next time I will use 2 8"x8" pans instead of 1 9"x13" pan. It would be perfect to eat one/freeze one for later. Makes a ton and none of it went to waste--so good!"
"This was exactly what I was looking for....something easy and flavorful. After reading the reviews I used 1 pound ground beef and 1 pound ground pork. I think that helped season it better. And I also added another half jar of pizza sauce that was left over. Just saucy enough! Would definitely make again!"
"I cut this in half, and it still made a large portion. I seasoned the ground beef very well, however, there is something lacking in this recipe,"
"I made this for my monthly bunco group. They all loved it. It was easy to put together and quite tasty. I did use a little more sauce then what was called for, not sure if it helped. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing!"
"Very quick! The only I did was add a can of mushrooms. Never can add too many mushrooms when making food with Italy in the background. Also, next time I make it I would add more sauce. Probably a can of tomato sauce and another can of tomato of some kind."
"Easy and fairly quick...but I do recommend using more than 24oz of spaghetti sauce unless you want this dry! I had to use 48 ozs and it turned out very good! Can't imagine how dry it would have been with only 24ozs."
"Great recipe! Quick! Very Easy! Great for a Pot Luck dinner too! Loved it! However... I could tell from the recipe it would be very bland so I used a ground beef w/higher fat content plus I used ground pork as well, half ground beef-half ground pork! I also cut this in half for 2 people! I also put in fresh garlic and chopped onion when browning the meats. I used Italian seasonings as well that came in a can of Spicy Italian tomatoes! I did not use the "canned" Parmesan cheese! I bought it in a chunk and shredded it my self....that's the only step that took the longest! Plus I put a little red wine in with the sauce mixture! I had most of the extra ingredients all ready on hand! I will definitely make this again! My family and friends loved it!!!"
"I followed this recipe to a "T" the only thing I did differently was season the meat and used ground turkey instead of ground meat. This dish came out very bland and it needed more sauce. I normally cook meatless baked ziti from the TOH healthy Cooking recipes. I will go back to the meatless recipe it had more flavor."
"Good easy recipe."
"It was goodv"
"Everybody in my house liked this. Great comfort food!"
"Excellent. My family loves it. Very versitle. I used 1.5 pounds of extra lean ground beef cooked with onion and green pepper (put in several slices of pepperoni too). I used the ToH recipe for homemade spagetti sauce that makes 4 cup and used all of it. I used fat free cottage cheese instead of ricotta because I like cottage cheese better. Next time I would put olives in too for my own personal taste.Very good."
"Very easy and tasty, but I agree with the previous comment of adding more sauce and cheese."
"Really easy and very tasty. Although I would say the next time I make this I will make these changes; I will make 16 ounces of ziti again, but I plan on using a jar and a half of sauce, and 3 cups of mozzarella cheese, and 22 ounces of ricotta cheese instead of 15. I also plan on adding Tastefully Simple Garlic bread Seasoning to the mixture. With these slight changes, i am positive the recipe will be PERFECT. This is a fantastic recipe. and I definitely will be making it again . This will now be a part of our regular dinner rotation and also brought to church potlucks."
"Omg I made this for my family. Just OMG 6 $TARZ"
"This was so easy and the flavor was just perfect - it is going in my "when I need something quick" recipe file"
"another winner!JR Ranch"
"I am so glad I picked this recipe to try out! I followed the recipe exactly (except that my ingredients ended up being what the package size was 16 oz pasta, 32 oz sauce, 1.34 lb hamburger). I am glad I had the extra few ounces of sauce. Next time I will add 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes because that's what we like. Definitely a keeper."
"This is so good and easy. I'm going to start making it for my service organization....they will love it!!! This is one of my husband and I's favorites!"
"Loved this! Was quick and easy and my 3 kids loved it too. The only thing I did differently was add in 2 layers of zuchinni for a veggie :)"
"I can't thank Elaine Anderson enough for sharing this recipe. It has become our Christmas day favorite, but still leaves me plenty of time to spend with my family. The only change I made was to use one pound of ground beef instead of two."
"Very good. I used cottage cheese in stead of ricotta."
"We really enjoyed it for dinner! The recipe makes a lot and I froze half of the meal to bake later."
"Easy and tasty."
"Perhaps we could make it a bit more healthier by using skim Mozzarella cheese, lean ground turkey, low fat ricotta cheese, low sodium Spaghetti sauce, and 2 egg whites and only one whole egg. Even with this makeover, it is still very good!"
"We had this for dinner tonight & it was delicious. I did put in a pound of sweet Italian turkey sausage along with a lb of ground turkey. Then I added another 1/2 jar of sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed this Ziti :)"
"I make this with spicy Italian sausage and also add a jar of alfredo sauce. Sliced zucchini or spinach is a nice add in."
"I prepared it using only 1lb of hamburger and enjoyed it. I rarely put ricotta in my lasagna because my hubby doesn't like a big layer of it. So it was a nice change having it mixed in. I think next time tho I'd add more sauce or add a can of tomato sauce as someone else suggested. Otherwise, it was pretty tasty!"
"Made this last night. It is very good but could definitely use more sauce, so I will either add more spaghetti sauce or tomato sauce next time but it's a keeper!"
"Excellent!! Real easy to make & taste great! I used ground turkey & added extra cheese & my kids LOVED it! So it's a keeper!! Good job."
"It's is amazing! I use mild Italian sausage in place of the beef, and get recipe requests almost every time I serve it!"
"I've made this many times, sometimes using jar sauce and sometimes using homemade sauce; it's great both ways. Much quicker than making lasagna but pretty much the same ingredients. I added provolone cheese in addition to the mozzarella because that's how I make homemade lasagna. Anyone that likes lasagna needs to try this one!"
"This is such a great recipe. Very straightforward to make, easier than lasagne but with all the same delicious textures and flavours, and quicker too as the sauce doesn't need to be simmered for hours. I used a jar of spaghetti sauce with added vegetables in it, and would try it also with a spicier version of spaghetti sauce too. The quantities were just right for my family who aren't keen on gallons of sauce in contrast to the pasta, and we were all delighted with the results."
"This was wonderful!!!! I only used 1 lb of meat and used ground turkey so I seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. My kids and husband loved it. My 7 year old son had 4 helpings!!! Leftovers were good too."
"This is really a great recipe! The only reason I had it put 4 stars is because the leftovers aren't that great. Maybe it is just my opinion. I did make a couple of changes however. Instead of using 2 pounds of beef, I used 1 pound. Also when I made it, I mixed 2 cups of the mozzarella, eggs, ricotta cheese and pasta and layered ALL of it on the bottom. I then topped it with ALL the meat mixture and sprinkled with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. It is just as good this way and leaves out the extra hassle of layering it. I am only 13 years old- and I found this recipe quick and easy to make!"
"I have made this dish several times, and most recently, I made it to serve at my wedding reception. Everyone loved it. I was glad I made more than I needed because it went fast! There were no left overs."
"This is great. Everyone that I have served it to they really like it. It will be made again and again."
"Made this as my husband's birthday meal and he loved it! Very easy. Will make again."
"Great recipe! Used turkey italian sausage and added fresh basil and oregano to the sauce. Excellent!!"
"I think this recipe is a solid 4, if you use some of the suggestions from other reviews it can be a 5. I added fennel when cooking the meat, added carrot for extra veggies (my family was none the wiser), and added a can of tomato sauce to the jar that is called for. It turned out great. Will definitely make again much easier than lasagna."
"Five stars on this one!!!"
"Used penne pasta, and added chopped onion and minced garlic to ground beef. Also added 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper and 1/8 tsp. black pepper to cheese mixture. Positively delicious!!!! Will be adding to regular mix of recipes!"
"This was a hit - and it is very easy - but different enough to make it feel special."
"Sauted a red pepper and an onion with the meat and added a layer of pepperoni. Definitely will add this keeper to my recipes."
"Wow, this was good. Has a lasagna taste to it without all the work. I used rigatoni because it was what I had in the pantry. i will definitely make this again."
"I modified this recipe a bit. I like to sneak veggies in for my kids. I used a whole wheat pasta instead. I used 1 lb. ground turkey cooked with some fennel seed (to give it the italien sausage flavor). To substitute the other pound of meat, I used shredded carrot, finely chopped green pepper and chopped onion. So I cooked the meat and veggies together before I added it to the sauce. Turned out great!"
"This was great and for sure a do again in our house."
"Loved this recipe, I'm just about to make this for the 2nd time, I'm making a double batch and not going to measure out as closely as I measured before... a bit more sauce, as I am not used to the pasta part seperate from the moistness from the sauce... We love this and we'll make it many more times."
"So very good! I did not add the hamburger and only used 1 jar of light spaghetti sauce 10oz jar. It came out so good..well be making this again. 9 servings at 8oz each..6pts in Weight Watchers!"
"Have made this several times, it bakes up nicely and is a hit at our house each and every time!"
