Dutch Hot Chocolate Recipe
- 12 cups milk
- 6 cups water
- 1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
- 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cinnamon stick, broken
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1. In a large kettle, combine the milk, water, 1 cup sugar, chocolate and cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook and stir until chocolate is melted. Add brown sugar and remaining sugar; cook and stir until heated through. Discard cinnamon. Yield: 18 servings.

"This was pretty good if you don't like overly chocolate tasting hot chocolate. I made a few changes...I only had unsweetened chocolate, omitted cinnamon (preference), and cut down on sugar. I only made 1/3 of the recipe...didn't need that many servings! I cut the sugar but a couple of T but I was surprised since I was using unsweetened chocolate. This was a nice subtle flavor which I loved, the hubby still prefers the powdered instant!"
