"I made this for our New Years Eve eve party. It was a HUGE hit! I followed recipe exactly , put it in the trusty crockpot and served with tortilla chips! I doubled the recipe , we had other items to eat of course , but this was the one I received the most comments on."
"This was a hit and all the guests loved it. I made this for our Family's Christmas Dinner Party this past December. It was something different than the usual Spinach Artichoke Dip or Veggie Tray (of course nothing wrong with those appetizers). I chose to use Refrigerated Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing instead of Ranch Dressing and served it with Celery Sticks and Scoops Corn Chips. I will definitely be making this recipe again."
"Very good! I made this for a Christmas gathering. Everyone enjoyed it."
"My daughter and her friends wanted this one day but I didn't have any chicken on hand. I decided to make the same dip but used spinach instead of the chicken and made Buffalo Spinach Dip. It has since become a fave in our house, especially since we have a lot of Vegetarian friends who now enjoy this as much as we do! Try it you wont be dissapointed."
"I have made this recipe several times and it is always a hit. I just made a batch for my son to take back to school. Keeps it in his dorm frig and microwaves it before eating.Next year he is living off campus and this will be a recipe that he will be taking..easy enough for an inexperienced cook to make!"
"This is awesome for a party. Has just the right amount of spiciness and you can always adjust that my adding more ranch."
"I made this, didn't have the small cans of chicken that it called for, but used 2 of the 10 oz canned chicken and added 1/2 can of medium rotel...HUGE hit on New Year's."
"I made this and CHANGED A FEW THINGS. i USED HALF BLUE CHEESE AND HALF RANCH.I added finely chopped onion and celery and put a bit of mozzarella over top of the cheddar. I used a bit more than half of the hot sauce that was called for....perfect heat! It was awesome! The BEST I have ever had."
"This is the best dip I have made!!! So good!"
"My niece shared this recipe with me a couple of years ago. I have made it many times since for parites where I had to take an appetizer. It is always a hit. Get asked for the recipe each time that I make it. My daughter has made it for several of her parties and everyone always loves it."
"Super spicy, but very good. I cut down the hot sauce to suite my family's mild taste buds."
"My husband and kids love this! I made it for a superbowl party and they ask for it all the time now!"
"We changed a few things and LOVED it!!! I used: 2 packages of cream cheese and used "Franks" Buffalo Wing Sauce instead of the hot sauce. It cooled it down quite a bit. This recipe is still a bit spicy, but MUCH cooler than the original. It was perfect!!!"
"Great simple recipe. Its NOT too spicy if you follow the directions: Louisiana -style hot sauce, not regular hot sauce such as (red hot) Tabasco!...(hello!) ...BIG difference"
"I have a recipe with the same ingredients but different quantities for the hot sauce, ranch dressing & shredded cheese. Sue_242 I agree this version is way too spicy. I only use 1/2 cup of the hot sauce, dressing & shredded cheese and while we usually don't like things real spicy, it has enough "kick" for us. We also like to sprinkle a little extra shredded cheese on top."
"Made this many times using about 1/4 the amount of hot sauce and mixing the cheese into the dip before baking. Yummy is everyone's opinion who try it!"
"too tangy and too spicy for even us Cajuns...i threw it out!!!"
"I made this recipe for a Super Bowl party that our family hosted a couple years ago, and my brother LOVED it. It's become a Super Bowl tradition. My only issue with this recipe is that it can be a little salty, but perhaps if the chips weren't salted that issue would be rectified. It also is pretty spicy, but that's never been a complaint for my family. :) A great, fun, simple recipe!"
"Instead of hot sauce I tried it with Budweiser brand mild & tangy wing sauce. My family doesn't like things too hot so it was perfect. Those who like a good bite should stick with the original recipe."
"I made this Super Bowl Sunday and it was a big hit! Very easy and quick to make. I took the suggestion of some of the reviewers and cut the hot sauce in half and it was hot enough for me!"
"Holy Hot Wings is right! I thought I died and went straight to hello! It was so hot even my husband who loves anything burning his throat thought it was too hot.I am going to make it again but this time use much less hot sauce. I did use Frank's as some others recommended so maybe that was the problem. I love the ingredients for a dip so I'm hopeful the next try will be better."
"Holy Hot Wings! I had used the the tips from the previous users and only used 3/4 C. hot sauce. We like heat...and it was perfect. This recipe is fantastic and came out perfectly for our game day crowd. Defiantly a new party favorite! Ty for sharing. :)"
"I reviewed this earlier but I agree with an earlier reviewer...this is very popular, but I've had to cut hot sauce about in half..its too hot for alot of my friends, only the diehards can eat it at full strength"
"Absolutely delicious! I brought it for Thanksgiving at my in-laws and it was a hit! Had to promise to make it again for our Christmas Eve party. I might leave off the cheddar cheese on top, it doesn't seem to be needed really. But it was very good, and super simple to make."
"It's delicious but I never put in the full amount of hot sauce."
"My husband loved it but It was to hot and runny for my likes."
"I substitute the canned chicken with rotisserie chicken. I also serve this at parties in a crockpot. I've been making it every few weekends because we like it so much."
"I have made this many times since getting it from Taste of Home. Everyone that tastes the dip requests a copy of the recipe. Excellent"
"Sorry we didn't like this at all. Greasy, too runny, 3 cans of chicken didn't seem enough and way too hot!"
"My family found this recipe as is a tad greasy.Next time I will use parmesan last 5 minutes of cooking"
"This dip is awesome!! I made it for the Super Bowl and everyone devoured it. I didn't use just plain hot sauce, I used Buffalo Wing sauce. Also, I did not use canned chicken. Instead I boiled chicken and then shredded it. I will make this recipe again for sure!"
"This recipe is much better with deli-chicken shredded or parboil boneless chicken breasts and shred them. Whoever heard of using canned chicken for anything??!!!!"
"Love this recipe - try using Monteray Jack cheese instead and cut back on the hot sauce. I use cooked chicken found in meat dept instead of canned chicken."
"Can't get enough of this dip! I cut back the hot sauce to 3/4 cup because it was a bit too spicy with a full cup."
"The only thing I did different was to use Blue Cheese dressing instead of ranch. That is just a family favorite. It is a good dish when we have a group anywhere, church or family. If it is not on the table people look around and ask where it is!"
"I made this for a super bowl party and it was such a big hit!!! It was all eaten before anything else the guys couldn't stop saying how much they loved it! I only put in 1/2 cup of hot sauce and it was plenty hot."
"I make chicken wing dip all the time and find it is better to use chopped chicken breasts. Much better taste.."
"I make it in my small crock pot to take to parties."
"this is a hit. we are wings freaks. eat them often. this is so nice for a party, and so easy. my only change is i use a roasted chicken as i'm not a fan of canned chicken. every supermarket has them cooked, and i use the bones for stock. so it's a win win recipe!"
"I prefer serving this with celery sticks rather than tortilla chips. Let's me fool myself into thinking it's healthier."
"I make this receipe all the time but highly recommend not using canned chicken. I also use my crockpot to cook my chicken & simmer the dip, that way it stays warm at the various potlucks I take it to. I also will sometime omit the cream cheese to keep the calories down & most of the time I use blue cheese dressing which makes it taste more authentic (although I am not a fan of bleu cheese ususally!)."
"I've been making this recipe for years and it's alway sa crowd pleaser. I always use pepperjack cheese for a little extra kick."
"Great recipe Quick to prepare .....Disappears even quicker"
"This is an AWESOME dip... it is not too hot for those who don't like spicy, but just enough heat for those that do. I use franks red hot sauce. I am asked to make this for every get together we have. rotissorie chicken is the way to go!"
"I've been making a variation of this recipe for years. It is my mosst "called for" dip recipe. I use my favorite barbecue sauce in place of the hot sauce and a mixture of ranch and blu cheese dressing."
"A neighbor brought this dip to a 4th of July party last year...it was a HUGE hit. I always use fresh chicken and for a nice, smoky twist, cook the chicken on a charcoal grill...YUMMMM."
"I halved this recipe. Fantastic. Made it for the Super Bowl (go Pack!). It is not too spicy, I like it hot, my husband it more of a medium guy, and we both loved it. It's a crowd pleaser!"
"Oh this is good! I do not like things overly hot but I didn't find this to be too hot. I made it twice and the second time I put in less hot sauce. I don't see why it cannot be adjusted after the cream cheese and dressing are added if it isn't enough. I also made this with putting in shrimp and canned crabmeat. Another hit and it is great for tailgating!"
"I have the same question, xicota. I love the spicy, but my husband and kids have more "delicate" stomachs. It sounds awesome! I just need to know whether to adjust the heat. Thanks for any feedback."
"I love this recipe. I have made it before but had lost my recipe. I am glad to see it posted! I substituted low fat cream cheese, monterey jack cheese and used Texas Pete Hot Sauce. So Yummy!"
"Question: I've had Buffalo Wings before, but never a BW dip. Isn't a whole cup (one bottle or more) going to make this REALLY spicy? Just how "hot" is this dip? I mean, can you taste the other ingredients, or is it all "burn"? I'm not making a judgment, I'd just like to know before I try this."
"I've made this recipe several times for my family and they love it!"
"I made this for Superbowl, I followed the directions except I used the suggestion of rotisserie chicken and I used Franks Red hot sauce.. and no green onions...Everyone loved it!!...i thought about using the bleu cheese suggestion and glad i didn't..turns out quite a few of my friends when asked said that they do not like bleu cheese..the ranch worked perfect..very yummy"
"This one was a hit -- we loved it and will definately make it again."
"Great recipe. I am amazed that a recipe could make people 'name call' and get so upset. A good dose of 'grow up' should be added."
"To taressas and mrw1128 ~~ Both of you should get off your 'high horse' and check 'Frank's (R) Redhot (R) Buffalo Chicken Dip' recipe on it's web site!!!8 oz cream cheese1/2 c. blue cheese ~OR~ ranch salad dressing1/2 c. Frank's RH sauce1/2 c. crumbled blue cheese ~OR~ shredded mozzarella cheese2 cans chickenFrank's was the 'secret' in the original Buffalo wings back in 1964. For that reason, I would certainly use Frank's recipe and deem the recipes of the two self-absorbed 'shrews' (?) 'defeasible'!!!"
"I live in Buff. This is one of the worst sounding recipes I have ever seen... Here is a real Wing dip recipe!!!!!8oz cream cheese1/2 c blue cheese dressing (rooties is the best)1/2 c Franks hot sause (HAS TO BE FRANKS!!!!!)1/2 c crumbled blue cheese2c cooked chicken.....Cook Chicken in frying pan diced with butter and hot sause (To taste). Shred chicken. add all ingredients and mix. Bake at 350 for 20 mins or so.... NEVER EVER mix buff wings with ranch that is not a buffalo wing!!!!! It has to be blue cheese! and a bufflo wing is ALWAYS made with franks or other type of cayenne pepper sause knock off.... Up here louisiana hot is not enjoyed... Cultural differences sorry.... Thats how we buffalonians do it up!!!!! blue cheese and farnks baby!!! ENJOY!!!!!!!"
"I have made this one for years, I have found the best is with venison or pork sausage. Always gone when it hits the table."
"I make mine with a rotisserie chicken (plain), cream cheese, small bottle of ranch dressing, Franks hot wing sauce, and cheese."
"Once again, a great app for a football game. Guys love the kick and I love the convenience. Only thing I would change is to sub the canned chicken. I'd rather buy a rotisserie chicken and shred. Much better flavor."
"I am born and raised in Buffalo, and we would never make this dip with ranch dressing. My recipe replaces the ranch dressing with blue cheese dressing (found in the produce section), also I would never use canned chicken meat, I roast two in-bone chicken breast, let them cool and shred the meat. Also, you will need to bake in longer at least 30 minutes and no green onions! Now you have Buffalo Wing dip!"
"this is an excellent dip...however i used 1/2 cup of blue cheese dressing and 1/2 cup of ranch....excellent"
"So quick, easy and just enough spice to make you want another bit!"
"i ran out of regular ranch dressing and had to use a spicy ranch to supplement, about 1/2 cup of each. gave it just a little more kick and it went over big at work. will use this again and again."
"This is always a hit whenever I make it."
"Excellent! Easy, handy ingredients, this is one that ALL my kids love! I did use two 8 oz bricks of the cream cheese & fresh cooked chicken. Simply delicious!"
"This is one of my favorites"
"maybe I should say that I also use the 1 cup of ranch salad dressing"
"Not bad, but I did change it some. Used 1 cup buffalo wing sauce instead of louisana hot sauce, 2 cans of shredded chicken (15 oz each) or use a whole chicken and shred, 2 oz of mozzarella. Put the 8 oz cream cheese in either crock pot or on low low stove til becomes a slurry and add the rest of the ingredients. Add some hot sauce to spice up just a little or some extra wing sauce. Keep warm and serve with celery, chips, crackers. Big hit at office parties."
"The best ever. Tastes good in the crock pot and oven!"
"I have made this many times and have shared the recipe each time. I actually put it in my crockpot instead of baking it in the oven. I was so happy to find a super delicious buffalo chicken dip that used ranch dressing instead of blue cheese. This one's part of our family event planning now."
"try this with Blue cheese dressing instead of ranch and I also added blue cheese crumbles!! It was great, also good cold"
"Made this for some friends and they all loved it! I used buffalo wing sauce instead of hot pepper sauce and cooked, chopped pheasant instead of chicken. Even those who don't like spicy food enjoyed it. Used my slow cooker also."
"Made this last night for our Super Bowl party. Just a fabulous dip! I made it in my electric fondue pot and got raves!"
"Incredible. I use 1 can less of the chicken. I also substitute blue cheese for the ranch. Words cannot describe how good this is!"
