In New England we frequently have cool fall evenings that call for a dinner that warms you all over. This chowder does that. I must admit I don't care too much for the taste of broccoli, but I really like this chowder.
"For a casual company meal, I serve this creamy soup along with miniature ham sandwiches," writes Karen Balistrieri from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. "Sometimes we leave the bay leaf in the soup as a sign of good luck for the person who gets it in their bowl," she adds.
"When my husband and I visit fresh-food stands, we often come home with more vegetables than we can eat," Marge Hill shares from Glenside, Pennsylvania. "I lightened up this tarragon-flavored soup to use up the broccoli we buy. I like it with crusty bread, a salad or a sandwich."
"My husband's aunt shared the recipe for this creamy soup, which tastes like you spent all day cooking," pens Trinity Nicholas from Mt.Carbon, West Virgina. "It's very filling with a salad and bread. We spoon the leftovers over baked potatoes."
“I’ve been making this dish since a friend gave me the recipe years ago,” Janis Corkery relates from Independence, Iowa. “No one can believe how fast and easy it is to prepare. It often comes to the rescue when our children and grandchildren unexpectedly stop in for lunch.”
