This is one of my most-asked-for recipes. It's sweet and buttery with plenty of crunch. You could use dark, milk or even white chocolate and substitute almonds for the hazelnuts if you wish.
These lovely little layered treats boast a buttery bottom and soft toffee top with a sprinkling of almonds. One recipe even makes enough to set some aside for company...if Santa doesn't get to them first!
This toffee has been a Christmas favorite in our family for over 30 years now. My interest in cooking also reaches back far—to the preparation of those big threshing-day and family dinners when I was growing up in Iowa.
