Each year during the winter holiday season, the faculty and staff at my school has a Goodies Day where we bring all manner of tasty things to share with everyone. These marinated bites were gone before the first lunch period!
Sauteed vegetables add fresh, robust flavor to these hearty bread slices from Genise Krause of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. For a change of pace, use prosciutto or shaved deli ham instead of salami.
GENISE’S TIP: “On extra-busy nights, I sometimes substitute prepared giardiniera for the vegetables to speed things up.”
Stuffed with savory meats and cheeses, this hearty bake would satisfy an entire offensive line! It comes together quickly and bakes in under an hour, making it the perfect potluck bring-along. Introducing the all-stars in this ooey gooey appetizer: salami, Swiss, pepperoni, Colby-Monterey Jack, prosciutto and provolone. A crisp topping finishes it off. —Brea Barclay, Packers Women's Association, Green Bay, Wisconsin
“This is one elegant, easy recipe people really seem to like at every party. I found a marinade recipe that wasn’t so heavy on olive oil and modified it to my taste. The kabobs are a snap to assemble. You don’t even need to turn on the oven.” —Kendra Doss, Kansas City, Missouri
