I HAD an abundant pear crop last summer, so I was on the lookout for pear recipes. I ended up devising one of my own by substituting pears for apples in a chunky applesauce recipe.
I usually serve it at lunch instead of a rich dessert and also find it makes a refreshing side dish.

I'M ACTIVE in co-op Extension work with the university and came home with this recipe, which was presented in a lesson on low-sugar and low-fat recipes.
It makes an attractive dish for taking to a potluck. The lemony dressing makes it different and distinctive.

I CREATED this recipe for a special dinner for our wedding anniversary, which is April 11.
That's the perfect time to make this salad, when leaf lettuce is fresh and green onions and radishes come right out of the garden.

WE LIKE fresh mushrooms and have them often, so I try to be a little inventive.
This salad "happened" one night when there was nothing but a carton of mushrooms in the refrigerator. The simple addition of chopped stuffed olives was such a hit that this salad has been one of our favorites ever since.

THIS DISH is a great substitute for a green salad and a little more filling. We especially enjoy it with grilled steaks.
When I serve this colorful salad to guests, they always ask for the recipe.

I'VE MADE this salad for my husband and me for years. I don't like cooked spinach, so I was looking for an alternative way to prepare this nutritious vegetable.
This salad is especially delicious made with fresh spinach from the garden.
