Reviews for Contest-Winning Hearty Hamburger Soup
"A delicious and hearty soup. Nice to see someone from my area posted here. I'm from Rockford IL..Thank you Barbara!"
"I didn't have the onions so I substituted shallots. I liked the quickness of this hearty soup."
"This is a great soup for anytime of the week and any weather! Very hearty and absolutely delicious! My family LOVES it when I make it and it doesn't last! :)"
"Enjoyed this simple recipe. I like a little spice so I used a can of original ro- tel and half a can of diced tomatoes. As I was browning the hamburger I added 1 TBS of Worchestershire. I also like my soup a little thicker so I used 3 cups of water and one cup of tomato juice. Just the right amount of extra flavor I was looking for."
"my family loved this. will make again"
"Very tasty easy vegetable soup!"
"Very good, but did have to add extra spices. Tasted bland otherwise. Once I added the extra spices and cheese, it was very good. I did have to add extra broth when I reheated, because all the liquid was soaked up. I will make this again."
"This turned out to be a nice, under assuming little soup. It was easy to prepare, and fairly inexpensive. The only change we made was, after tasting the soup with the called for oregano, we added Italian seasoning to add more flavor. I'm planning on making it again soon and trying Italian sausage instead of ground beef."
"This recipe was certainly easy. I added to the flavor by using Italian style tomatoes instead of diced, beef broth instead of bouillon w/water, and I also added a Tbsp of brown sugar. After these simple flavor changes it was a hit. So warming on a winter night."
"This soup really hit the spot! I was ready for a good healthy soup after all the holiday food I pigged out on. I love hamburger in soup. I did leave out the celery. I will definitely make again."
"Super easy to make. I used beef broth instead of granules and used a dash of Italian seasoning since I was out of oregano. It was a great little soup!"
"Amazing! We all enjoyed this soup so much, and my 3 & 4 year old ate it all up. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a new favorite soup."
"We love this easy stew."
"Very tasty! I changed some of the spices to my liking, but other than that, this was great! ^_^"
"Amazing every time! I don't make any changes except use Hunt's Diced Tomatoes Fire Roasted With Garlic for the canned tomatoes in the recipe. Even with regular unflavored canned tomatoes it still tastes amazing. Sometimes I add some chopped green bell pepper too in addition to everything else. So good."
"Delicious!! The family really enjoyed. I used beef broth instead of water..added garlic powder and a dash of cilantro.... enhanced the flavor."
"Delish?? My husband likes spicy foods, so I added a can of hot Rotel tomatoes. Didn't have green beans, so I added frozen peas and carrots. Definitely will make it again."
"Is is one of my all time favorite recipes. Sometimes I make it as is.. Often I add peas instead of green beans and use Swanson broth."
"This is the second time I made this recipe. The first time I used four cups Swanson liquid beef broth. The second time I used Maggi beef bullion granules. Both times it has turned out delicious. Best hamburger soup I have ever had."
"Delicious. I didn't make any adjustments to the recipe. Made it twice already."
"I made this again and I am reminded how good this soup is! The only changes I made were 1- omit onion, 2- add diced tomatoes with green chills (Rotels).SO wonderfully full of flavor. I serve it with biscuits so I can soak up the juice. YUM."
"Quick, easy, and tasty. The only change I made was to sprinkle shredded parmesan on top. Everything else was exactly as written; changes not needed. Will definitely be making this one again."
"Great flavor!! I did not have celery but added chopped green and yellow bell pepper. Used better than bullion instead of regular bullion. 28 oz diced tomatoes. Will make again"
"The soup was quick and easy to make and my kids loved it"
"good soup easy and good"
"I've made this for years for my family and now the kids are grown its a favorite for my husband and I. It's quick to make, ingredients are usually on hand and its easy to double. I made this once for a homeless shelter and the guests loved it. Serve with hot bread and a lettuce salad. Yum"
"This one is a keeper. I would not change a thing."
""Hearty" is the perfect description of this soup! I added some chopped pepper and used canned green beans. Makes a big batch, so I froze half of it."
"This is a great quick soup! The whole family enjoyed it, which can be a difficulty task. The only thing that I changed was rather than using frozen green beans I used frozen "soup vegetables" (green beans, carrots, peas, and corn). Will definitely make again. Thanks for the great, quick recipe!"
"Great tasting, easy to make, inexpensive to make. Can you ask for more?"

"I make this every winter and cold day! It is an awesome soup!My favorite! Thank you for another great recipe!"
"I eliminated the water & used 1_1/2 32 oz beef broth as I am gluten intolerant & can't have the beef bouillon granules. Also didn't have celery, so substituted green peppers instead & didn't have the fresh or frozen green beans, so added a pint of home canned green beans juice & all. Turned out great & my hubbie really liked it!"
"Easy and delicious! I used stewed tomatoes and added frozen corn with the green beans. This one's a keeper!"
"Surprisingly tasty for something so simple!"
