Butterscotch Pie

This recipe is from my Aunt Hilda Yoder. My dad's sister.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1 stick butter or margarine
Pinch of salt
4 cups whole milk
4 eggs (beaten)
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch (heaping)
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Whipping cream or Cool Whip to top

Directions

Mix together the brown sugar, white sugar, butter, salt and milk. Heat together in a heavy sauce pan over low heat. When almost boiling, add after you have made a thickening of the following ingredients eggs, cornstarch, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, and vanilla. Cook all together until mixture is thick. Stirring constantly. Then set in ice water to cool fast or refrigerate until ready to use. Top with whipped cream or Cool Whip
