A Holiday tradition in our family for over 60 years - Grandma served the whole poached apples on a green serving platter (no syrup). Her recipe calls for 3 cups of water and sugar, each, and a dozen apples. Remaining syrup was served over waffles or pancakes for New Year's Day breakfast. Three days ahead, prepare and store in quart jars in refrigerator.

These remind me of my Grandma's. We insisted on these at every holiday dinner. I like keeping her tradition going.
