“I made a few alterations to a great recipe and ended up with an impressive dessert,” says Lynne Bargar from Saegertown, Pennsylvania. “Everyone loves its light texture and chocolaty flavor.”

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 packages (13 ounces each) Swiss cake rolls
  • 2-3/4 cups 2% milk
  • 2 packages (3.9 ounces each) instant chocolate fudge pudding mix
  • 2 cups whipped topping
  • Fresh raspberries, optional

Directions

Cut each cake roll into six slices; reserve chocolate coating that breaks off for topping. Line bottom and sides of a 9-in. springform pan with cake slices, covering completely.
Whisk milk and pudding mixes 2 minutes (mixture will be thick); spread onto bottom layer of cake rolls. Spread with whipped topping. Top with reserved chocolate pieces and, if desired, raspberries. Refrigerate, covered, at least 2 hours before serving. Yield: 12 servings.

"Would make it over and over and I have. It is much easier to slice the swiss rolls if you put them in the freezer for a little while before cutting. I agree with MySonsx3 a little about the cake part being misleading. If it said cut Swiss Rolls it would make more sense to people. Maybe that would be a good correction to make to the recipe. My family loves it and I find it Very easy to make. I am going to share it with the Pampered Chef consultants who were looking for more recipes using springform pans. Thanks for another great recipe."

"I was shown this recipe in class one time for a How To speech and recently decided to make it. My favorite thing to do with the leftover chocolate shavings is make a design on top to match the occasion. (Ex: a football for SuperBowl)"

"The test kitchen notes that the recipe works fine as originally published with 1 box of Swiss cake rolls cut into 8 slices each. However, we did retest the recipe by cutting each roll into 6 slices, and it was easier. We've revised the recipe to suggest 1-1/2 boxes. Thank you for your input and suggestions!"

"DELICIOUS!!!

I did like everyone else and bought 2 boxes of swiss cake rolls & ended up using them all. For the filling, I mixed the pudding and cool whip together; it makes it nice and thick and helps it sit up alittle better. This dessert also freezes very well. I took this to a family reunion and it disappeared before any other dessert! So pleased :) I will certainly make this again!"

"What a great dessert! My husband is a big swiss roll lover, so when I saw this I had to make it for his Birthday. He and the kids loved it. I cut each roll into 6 slices and those were very thin. There is no way you could do 8. Fortunately I had a second box of the swiss rolls or I would have run out for the sides. I used about a third of the second box. I was also very surprised how firm it was and how nicely it sliced and served into a beautiful wedge. I thought it might flop apart as it was served but it didn't. Can't wait for seconds tomorrow!"
