Reviews for Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta
"I LOVED this recipe. I used half and half cream and for the chicken, I'd used the cooked, sliced chicken from our supermarket salad bar, along with cooked and crumbled bacon from the salad bar. I'd used Black Forest sliced cooked ham, cut in cubes. I used Italian-style bread crumbs. This dish was SO TASTY! Thank you, Nikki Barton, for your recipe!delowenstein"
"My 13 and 16 year old children are always thrilled when I make this. The best thing about this recipe is that you can tailor it to what your own family likes. I add more bacon and less ham because that is what I've found they like.I've done a few versions of the chicken. I've used rotisserie chicken, baked chicken and most recently, I put a few pieces of chicken in a crockpot and shredded it when it was done.I love to use the little shells with this recipe. In a pinch I've used elbows which works too. A certain HIT in our home. Thanks to whomever submitted it!!!"
"Big hit with my family! I used 1% milk instead of heavy whip. Family agreed it would have been good with some diced green peppers."
"My family & I thought this turned out really tasty. I added more breadcrumbs on top & we really enjoyed it. It was something different & I will be making it again. I think it's my husband's new favorite meal now."
"Very good. Even without the bacon it's great."
"Great recipe and very flavorful. My husband loved it!"
"This was wonderful!! A little labor-intensive with all the prep work, but it was worth every minute!! I will definitely make this again!"
"Very good and easy. I didn't have 2 cups of heavy cream so I used 1 cup of 2% milk tasted great!"
"I really liked this casserole...my family thought it was just okay. I did omit the bacon and added a little extra ham just to keep the flavors a little more traditional and eliminated the bread crumbs because my family doesn't care for crumb toppings on casseroles."
"I made this casserole and doubled it to feed 12 people. Nothing was left in the pans after the meal. Everyone raved about it! I was actually disappointed that there were no leftovers. I made it exactly as printed, except I used half and half instead of heavy whipping cream, and to save time I used frozen cooked grilled chicken strips, and instead of cooking bacon, I used a jar of Real Bacon Bits. No one knew the difference and it was delicious! This recipe is a keeper."
"Yay! This looks great! And, I am so excited to see a recipe on this site from right here in our happy valley! I live not far from providence. Can't wait to try this. Thanks for sharing. =)"
"My husband and son LOVE mac n cheese -- and this definitely takes it to the next level. Delicious. But I'm with the others: If you're watching calories, sodium, cholesterol, carbs, or any combination -- this recipe is NOT for you! But you can lighten it up, as others did -- with the lighter cream and cream cheese -- the Canadian bacon and maybe even leave the bacon out. Although the bacon was my favorite part!! Thanks for this!"
"Tastes good but OMG 826 calories! Definately need to switch out the heavy whipping cream and cream cheese for a basic light alfredo sauce to reduce those calories."
"Delicious, will definitely be making this again."
"Loved this recipe! Easy to put together: sliced 2 cooked chicken breasts and chopped up a couple of thickly sliced Black Forest ham pieces (skipped the bacon as I didn't have any) which I added to the sauce while the pasta was finishing up. The amount of sauce was good--not dry but not sloppy either. Didn't miss the bacon. A definite keeper!"
"This is a huge hit when our family visit us. I purchased a small ham and chunked it up instead of using lunch meat. It was delicious"
"The original recipe I am sure is great, but I lightened it up by using light cream, light cream cheese and Canadian bacon. I don't really measure the pasta so I just added what I thought would go well with the amount of sauce, also just threw in chicken, the ham and canadian bacon to what I thought looked good! My family enjoyed it and I loved the creamy sauce, I will make this again and bring it to a friend's house for them to enjoy!"
"this was very good- I'd definitely make it again."
"This was great my husband loved it he is hard to please. Added some chicken broth sauce was a little dry. Also added a cup of peas and carrots .will make again."
"I really liked this and so easy! Husband did not care for the stuffing thought it might be better with out."
"Great recipe! The family loved it. Next time I will double the sauce."
"This is a great recipe. chicken Cordon Bleu is one of my favorite ways to have chicken. This recipe brings all those great flavors to a simple, easy weeknight pasta dinner. It is super easy to make this head and freeze and serve later. This is also almost more amazing as leftovers. Just a great recipe that I'll be keeping around for a long while."
"Although I am a vegetarian, I did taste the sauce and it was good after I added some Mrs. Lawry's No salt. I felt it needed an extra something. Rest of family really liked this recipe. Instead of onion powder, I sauted onions as my family likes onion and I don't keep onion powder on my shelf. I'd rather use the real thing. I also mixed the dry bread crumbs with melted butter. I will be making this again."
"Phenomenal and EASY!!! The leftovers were even fought over..... SO good!"
"Me and my family LOVED this dish I have made it a few times and plan on making it again real soon :)"
"my husband ate 3 helpings, he loved it."
"I made this for the first time for a military convention. It was a huge hit. Everyone wanted the recipe. I made two huge pans and none was left. My new casserole to bring."
"Delicious! I substituted the cream cheese and whipping cream with a simple bechamel sauce made with skim milk. I sprinkled freshly grated parmesan cheese instead of more of the swiss cheese on top. I'll make this again!"
"I also added 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, we love lots of cheese"
"We had this yesterday and it was so delicious!! It was very good left over today too!"
"absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I substituted the heavy cream with light... I would skip the bacon...I seasoned the chicken and grilled it..."
"It was ok. My family gave it mixed reviews. Don't think I will make it again."
"I loved this one. I also used low-fat cream cheese. I think grilled chicken would have given it a better depth of flavor!"
"This was rich and wonderful. I did not have any ham or bacon on hand, so used just chicken, and it was still delicious. I did lighten it up with half and half and I also used italian seasoned bread crumbs and extra thyme for flavor."
"Easy recipe to put together and tasted really rich and delicious."
"My whole family absolutely loved this recipe. I cut it in half for my family of 3, and added a little extra cheese on top. Next time around I think I will add some more bacon on top when serving. The sause was easy to make and the cream cheese added a great flavor to the dish. We ate all the leftovers for this one and we will be making it again."
"I made this last night for dinner, and added some cyanne pepper too.. it was wonderful. I have a recipe box that only has dishes I made at least once in them, so I know everything that box is tried and true. This recipe is going in the box for sure!!!"
"Wow, this is fantastic! I did sub half and half for the cream, and used light cream cheese. It was tasty and enjoyed by my friends! They all wanted the recipe."
"Wow, this recipe was excellent! I did sub out the swiss cheese for colby jack as DH is not a fan. I will definitely make this again. Great for a cold, rainy day."
"This recipe was very good and tasted wonderful! It's very rich - so not something I would make every day but now and then for a special occasion, it's a winner. In my opinion, it was a little dry after it baked - so next time I think I will add a small container of refrigerated Alfredo sauce to the sauce mixture. I divided the recipe in half and froze half for another meal."
"I substituted 1/2 & 1/2 for the heavy cream, added crumbledBleu Cheese, and decreased the amount of Swiss Cheese. The addition of Bleu Cheese added a nice tangy flavor to the dish. I also used Panko crumbs for a crunchy texture. Our family liked it very much."
"I made this ahead for my kids (7 & 3) and I. I intended to make half but cooked more than enough pasta, so the chicken was a little shy. The kids gobbled it down. I used half & half only because it was on sale so a lot cheaper, and 1/3 less fat cream cheese. I also didn't have onion power but I had onion salt and garlic powder so I just switched it up. For the bread crumbs I had a Parmesan and herb panko bread crumbs, which added a little flavor. I poured the sauce on the mixed pasta while it was in the casserole dish. All in all it was fantastic.I had to bake it for about 40 min only because it went in cold, but came out warm. It might have heated up faster if I had put it in a 9x13 but I wanted it in a covered casserole as it was sitting in the fridge all day."
"This was fantastic - I used 2 cups of the shredded swiss cheese and 12 oz of cream cheese made it really creamy but yes it does add more calories."
"I'm mainly writing to tell romwell to take her own advice and stuff a sock in it. this recipe sounds DELISH!! i will be trying it and i'm sure me and my girl will love it. so romwell....if you're not even gonna make it....don't bother commenting. you're what we call in arizona....a fat linda. thank you and drive through"
"Romwell, you will be relieved to know that there exists fat-free cream cheese, whole-grain pasta, low-fat milk and turkey bacon. I am sure that the readers of these reviews will give you a pass for making healthy substitutions. Many of us do this very thing and blithely post our reviews without a trace of self-condemnation. Give it a try."
"Well "romwell", never rate a recipe you haven't made, or review, if you feel its unhealthy, don't make it, or say ANYTHING, life is all about choices...my choice was to make and enjoy it, and I run 12 mi a day, am 69 yrs young, and enjoy life."
"Made this today for a Ladies Bible Class lunch and it was wonderful. How could it not be with these ingredients. With a salad & fruit, it served 14! Many compliments!"
"Never write a review with out making the exact recipe. This recipe is so unhealthy, I won't make it"
