Reviews for Chicken & Egg Noodle Casserole
"Yummy!! I just added onion and garlic but it is still very good without. Couldn't believe how good the buttered ritz cracker topping was. Next time i make my baked macaroni and cheese l will use the buttery cracker topping instead of my usual panko bread crumbs."
"Ok, yes, it was slightly tweaked. I used both cans cream of chicken. Added some dried minced onion & chicken stock base (about 1 Tb of each) and a dash of ground sage. Sprinkled plain Panko on top. Cooked for 20, sprinkled shake cheese & some shredded mozzarella on top, baked for 10 more minutes. DELICIOUS!!! The only other place I cheated was I used chicken pulled from a rotisserie chicken, so that added to the flavor. This is now my go-to comfort food"
"We made this for dinner tonight. We took the suggestions from other reviewers and added the peas, minced onions, garlic pdr and the Bullion. It adapted very well to my gluten free diet using gf noodles, gf cream soup and topped with gf crackers. We consider this a definite keeper recipe. Thank you to all who have reviewed and made suggestions to this recipe."
"This is one of my family favorites. However, instead of using the crackers, I left over crushed potato chips, crushed corn flakes cereal or crushed tortilla chips. Almost any variety will do. Adds a little extra flavor."
"A few shakes of garlic powder and some onion and I used crushed potato chips on top instead of crackers and butter. Yummy said all."
"Ratings are based on following the recipe letter for letter but it's often necesary to cook based on what's in your kitchen at the time so, sorry for that! This sounded like a great basic recipe so I gave it a shot with some changes. Sub cream of mushroon for cream of chix and added small can of mushrooms and 1 cup frozen peas. Based on other reviews I also added 2 Tbs dried minced onion, 3/4 tsp garlic powder and 1 Tbs "Better Than Bouillon" roast chix base (eliminate the salt in recipe) and completed recipe as written. This was fast, easy and YUMMY so thx, Lin, for the great basic recipe! Even my husband liked it and my "Grands" will Love it as well! Deserves 5*'s if I can still rate it."
"I modified this recipe by adding broccoli and dried minced onion, and reduced the amount of noodles. I also used seasoned bread crumbs in place of the crackers. It turned out great. Would like to try it again with the crackers on top next time."
"I cut the recipe in half since I was just feeding me and my husband but I used the full amount of crackers and melted butter. I added more salt, pepper, garlic powder and chicken powder. (As everyone has said, It definitely needed more spice.) It was very good. I will make it again."
"I walked into this recipe knowing it was pure comfort food. I agree with the other reviews though that it needed to be more spiced and made as written, is a bit bland. I did add almost twice as many crackers on top, so that was a yummy addition. I would make this again for perhaps a potluck or group dinner, as I think most would enjoy!"
"This turned out really well. My daughter didn't even complain! The crushed crackers on top really added to the texture. Will be making this again."
"Good hearty meal that uses simple, well known ingredients...which means the kids will eat it too!! Agree with the others that additional spices are necessary. Like some of the other commenters I also blended garlic (powder) into the mixture for extra flavor."
"Provided an excellent meal for the week. Husband suggested more sour cream and more ritz cracker topping. Easy adjustments for next time!"
"I like this recipe a lot. I did add a little garlic and some extra salt and pepper to the chicken that I cooked for the recipe. Then I added about 1/4 cup of French's fried onions with the cracker topping and sprinkled McCormick's Perfect Pinch Garlic and Herb on the top too before baking."
"The first time I made it, it was good, but quite bland. The next time I added parsley, italian spice mixture and italian grated cheese. It had a lot more flavor. Would make again using these changes."
"This is a great recipe! You can add any spice you prefer and it still turns out amazing. My husband and I love this just the way it is."
"The only thing this is missing is more spice... But otherwise, the perfect dish for a cold night!"
"This is a comfort food recipe. Very tasty and easy to make using ingredients most of us have on hand."
