Reviews for Chewy Date Nut Bars
"my husband loves these too. I add 50% more dates & also the zest of a lemon and an orange to them. I also bake them for 17-18 minutes, then take them out for 15, then put them back in till done. it's a trick I learned from Alton Brown (he recommends it for baking brownies) that makes them to die for. we like them warmed up with coffee or tea. Delightful <3"
"I needed something quick for a church meeting, plus I had hoped to use up some dates I had on hand....these bars were PERFECT! Tasty & easy to make, they disappeared quickly, to rave reviews from the church group!"
"These are yummy; one of my husband's favorites. Very quick & easy to toss together."
"I swapped the yellow cake mix for a spice cake mix ... delicious."
"These are dangerously good! I don't want to stop eating them! My whole family loved this recipe, I will be sure to make it again maybe using some of the recommendations."
"These were very good. I added 1/2 teasp. each of cinnamon & nutmeg and from the taste of them, I'm glad I did. Otherwise I think they would have been a little bland. Coconut would have been good too. As with most baked goods with fruit in them, they taste better the next day & thereafter."
"I have been making this recipe for years because my husband love these bars. I like to add chocolate chips or butterscotch chips."
"Love this recipe. I have made it with different cake mixes, spice & german chocolate, both were great. I added 3/4 c. dried cranberries and a little cinnamon & nutmeg. I also tried substituting pumpkin and canola oil for the butter, tasted great, nice & moist."
"These bars are so simple and delicious. I have even substituted chocolate chips for the dates....sooo yummy! Both versions are a hit with my family."
