Chesapeake Slaw Recipe

A favorite meal for our family consists of this coleslaw served with traditional Maryland crab cakes and corn on the cob. It's especially good on a warm summer day. This slaw is delicious with other meals, too.
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 10 min. + chilling YIELD:4-6 servings


  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons seafood seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Dash pepper


  • 1. In a bowl, combine cabbage and carrots. In a small bowl, combine oil, vinegar, seafood seasoning, salt and pepper. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Yield: 4-6 servings.
