"Excellent recipe! However, I omitted the butter crackers in the topping due to family preferences. It was a big hit at Thanksgiving dinner. I will definitely keep this in my recipe files."
"Loved this dish and easy to make!"
"I really enjoyed this! it was easy to make, especially compared with another recipe i had, it tasted amazing. i did take the advice of other reviewers about it being too sweet so i used 1/4 cup sugar and also made the brown sugar for the topping1/4 cup. it was amazing. going to do it for our thanksgiving dinner this year"
"Very good! I will make this again. Very quick and easy to make using the canned potatoes."
"too sweet, not impressed"
"This is my new go-to recipe for sweet potatoes. It's so scrumptious! Love it! Love it! Love it! (And so do all my dinner guests!)"
"This is a very tasty dish. I think it is quite sweet. Next time I would cut back on the sugar. I used fresh sweet potatoes and cut them up and boiled them. Then followed the recipe. It was wonderful for Thanksgiving dinner. Will make it again."
"I tried this on the holiday and really liked it. I will make it again next year."
"Delicious! This has become my new holiday sweet potato dish. The kids liked this one even more than the classic one with marshmallows on top!"
"the only recipe I use at the holidays. My grandchildren love it. Made it for a Church dinner and it was gone in no time flat"
"Love this recipe! Only thing I did different was use a 40 oz can of sweet potatoes because that's what I had on hand. Thanks for sharing!"
"Best sweet potatoes!!"
"This is a very good recipe, although I have another one we like a bit better. Definitely cut the brown sugar for the base and topping in half or it will be too sweet. I used 4 cups of fresh yams, boiled & mashed. You can make it a day ahead then bring to room temp and bake the next day. Really loved the topping."
"I've made several different sweet potato recipes over the years but this is by far the best!! I have 5 sons who don't particularly care for sweet potatoes but they all LOVED this dish. I tripled the recipe but only doubled the sugar to 1 cup (any more would've been way too sweet). This will definitely be a new Thanksgiving staple."
"Fast, easy, and everyone loved it - will DEFINITELY make again! Used Flip Sides Pretzel Crackers (Reduced Fat) and a few chopped pecans on top."
"Wow, mine was swimming under butter. I must have done something wrong. Flavor was excellent, but too sweet for me. Sorry."
"We made this and added chopped pecans to the crackers, it was a big hit! We will definitely make it again."
"I use the sugar and brown sugar ritz instead."
"I have made its several times. Its the best we have ever had."
"it's actually the most requested recipe! I make it with flipside crackers (pretzel on one side) my family & friends love, love, love this recipe!"
"Fabulous dish! i actually used fresh sweet potatoes because i had them to use up. i microwaved them and mashed them as directed with a little chicken broth for moisture, worked great. i used not quite 1/2 the sugar for either amount and it was great! my son who doesn't eat casserole ate 2 servings:0) love it."
"ive made this 4 times and everytime i make it everyone loves it. ive always used fresh sweet potatoes instead of canned ones"
"I made this dish for the 2nd time and with 1/2 the sugar. It was much, much better! My husband said he wants me to make this dish throughout the year (not just for the holidays)!"
"Oh My! I used granola instead of butter crackers for the topping and that made it even better than it already is!!!!"
"the whole family loved this casserole. Yummy"
"So yummy! They were very sweet, so next time I will add a little less sugar just as other people reviewing this recipe stated. They were so good though!"
"I have been searching for years for a great sweet potato casserole recipe...this is it!"
"My family insists we have this sweet potato recipe for every holiday meal. I usually need to triple it so there is enough for leftovers. We love the flavor and crunch the topping adds to the sweet potatoes. Sometimes I use baked, fresh sweet potatoes in place of the canned ones."
"Oh, to add... I also added 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg to the sweet potato mixture."
"All I have to say is it's SO YUMMY!!!! Even cold!!!! For the sugar in the sweet potatoes, I did 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. But I think next time I would cut the sugar in half, so 1/8 cup white sugar and 1/8 cup brown sugar and mix the topping as directed."
"My family liked this but, it was a bit to sweet for my tastes. I think I will try it again with less sugar. My family was a bit disappointed too as they thought it was apple crisp by the looks of it! Ü"
"Very good. I added vanilla flavoring just because I love it with sweet potatos. The whole family loved it, even my husband Keith who doesn't eat sweet potatos. Thank you, Tammie"
"Very, very good!"
"Simply delicious! I mix all filling ingredients in the pan I'm baking in. Place all topping ingredients in a ziploc bag and sprinkle on top. No cleanup! I have made several times and have cut back on the sugar in both the filling and topping. Kids and hubby couldn't tell the difference."
"argh I gave it 5 stars and it only registered as 1, and it won't let me change my rating"
"I made this for Thanksgiving. Given I have a diabetic in the fam and sweet potatoes are already sweet I used half the sugar this recipe calls for but it still came out delicious! I used 6 med size sweet potatoes for a 12x9 baking dish and Toasted's buttercrisp crackers for the topping."
"I wanted a "different" sweet potato dish to serve my family for Thanksgiving this year and chose this. It sounded ordinary, but hey... I had all the ingredients. This dish was simply STUNNING...plus it was simple to make. I'll never go back to my old marshmallowy casserole."
"this was almost to easy to make i could not believe how good it was i will be making this again thanks for the recipe"
