Buttermilk Wheat Bread Recipe
- 1-1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1-1/2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1. In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order given. Select "white bread" setting. Bake according to bread machine directions. Yield: 1 loaf (2 pounds).

"I loved the end result, but like others,I changed a few things. EX: I substituted ground oatmeal for the wheat flour and honey for the sugar, but it think the most important ingredient in this recipe is the buttermilk hands down!! The bread was soooo moist and the texture was wonderful!! Thanks so much for this recipe!! Next time I plan to use half wheat flour for half the mixture. Thanks again!! Loved it !!!"
"I used 1.3 cups of wheat flour with 2 cups of bread flour. We liked this loaf pretty well. It came out small and more dense than most of the bread machine loaves we have made, which meant that while it wasn't light and fluffy, it was very filling and held up well during slicing.
