Breezy Brownies

 Breezy Brownies
For a quick and easy dessert, I whip up these brownies. The frosting also makes the brownies irresistible.—Mary Peterson, Centralia, Ontario

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • FROSTING:
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. beat
  • in eggs and salt. Stir in chocolate syrup, flour and nuts.
  • Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for
  • 20 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes.
  • For frosting, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, butter and
  • milk. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Boil for 1 minute;
  • remove from the heat; stir in chocolate chips until melted. Beat
  • until spreading consistency, about 3 minutes. Add pecans, frost warm
  • brownies. Yield: 2 dozen.
