Reviews for BLT Macaroni Salad
"This is now the family favorite! Best pasta salad we have ever tasted! Easy and quick also."
"Just OK for my husband and me."
"Delicious! We doubled the recipe, and used finely chopped vidalia onion instead of the green onion, and added a bit more bacon that I oven-baked till crispy."
"We enjoyed this, used olive oil mayo and added Salad Supreme seasoning. salt and pepper"
"I found this recipe a while ago, it is really good. I used Olive oil Mayo & low carb high fibre noodles because I am diabetic."
"I made as written and it was pretty bland. It needs something to add some flavor."
"I doubled the sauce and it was delicious :)"
"I made a big batch (full box of pasta) and added creamy cole slaw from the deli in place of the lettuce. I also used a store brand chili sauce because I prefer the sweetness over heat!! So good, we loved it and I will be serving this a lot from now on"
"With a little bit more dressing this would be a 5 star recipe. We really loved the flavor of this salad."
"This was easy to put together---and I liked that aspect of it. The only thing that I didn't like is that it was bit dry. I think that if I make it again, I am going to double the sauce and use half to put it together and then use enough of the other half to get it to where I like it before I serve it."
"Made as written (mostly... I really didn't measure the sauce ingredients) and used 6 slices of bacon, and slightly more cooked pasta. Oh my! Is this ever delish!! Definitely one of our new favorites and will be making this a lot!!"
"I omitted the sugar, and the chili sauce. I also used about a half cup of regular mayo, and about another half cup (didn't really measure anything!) of spicy mayo (we like ours with some zest) but you have to add more in volume because some of it gets soaked up by the macaroni. I just put in a squeeze or two of the lemon juice. Fresh scallions from the garden, cherry tomatoes halved, some sliced.....as well as swiss chard. After 3 days in the fridge, the chard has not wilted! Enjoy!"
"I made this for dinner but used cocktail sauce. Big hit! 5 stars"
"Absolutely delish! Like others, added more mayo, some sour cream, fresh dill, celery seed, a little fresh onion, cracked pepper. A great summertime meal. Oh, and used coleslaw instead of lettuce."
"It looked very pretty, but tasted bland."
"Very good recipe. I doubled the dressing also, per other reviewers suggestion. Thank you for a great recipe...."
"Fixed this over the weekend and it was a nice salad for a hor day and one can also use tomotoes from your garden."
"I made this salad using the sriracha sauce. I used two tablespoons as my family likes spicy. I also substituted fresh Swiss chard out of my garden for the lettuce. It made the salad look beautiful and it didn't wilt at all. I ate it the second day and it was still perfect. This is the perfect pasta salad for BLT lovers."
"This is a wonderful side dish. I had to make copies for everyone at the B-B-Q!! I will make this again and again."
"I haven't made this salad yet so I won't rate it. This is a comment prompted by the reviewer who said he/she used Sriracha sauce and cut back on it. I agree I wouldn't use 3 tablespoons of any kind of hot sauce in this recipe. I think the person who submitted this recipe meant the kind of chilli sauce that tastes like ketchup and that you can find next to the ketchup on the condiment aisle. That would make the dressing taste like that bottled, orange "French dressing," or the dressing you would make for a seafood salad like shrimp Louis. Anyway, that's how I going to make it when I have an occasion to do so."
"I will make again, but maybe put some adobe sauce in the dressing to give it a little more spice. it was a bit bland for me, but it has good flavor."
"I am very disappointed in this recipie....I thought it was going to taste like a BLT and it didn't.....It was tasty but not what I expected and it was a lot of work to make."
"I loved it. Better the 2nd day. Increased dressing a bit also to coat the lettuce. I added all to begin with & the lettuce just before serving & mixed in. I used the crumbled bacon for salads you buy in the store, wouldn't do that again, go freshly prepared. Roma tomatoes to avoid seeding. I added maltodextrin fiber (which doesn't thicken or taste grainy) to lower the carb count. Loved it! Great easy meal. Would be good with added hard boiled egg for higher protein too."
"Terrific - a knock-out at the BBQ the other day - thankfully I made the complete box of macaroni and increased the other ingredients --- had to make copies of the recipe..."
"I wouldn't say that this really tasted like a BLT, but it was [expletive] good anyway! I would increase the dressing, as I dressed the salad when the pasta was warm and it absorbed a lot of it. YUMMY!"
"I was pleasantly surprised how much my family enjoyed this. It has a slight sweetness that is unexpected, but not over powering. Delicious."
"I've gotta admit I used extra bacon. I had some crumbled blue cheese and threw it in too. This is a GREAT salad. It was our whole meal! I will make this again and again"
"I loved this recipe! It was definitely a hit. I did not have Chili sauce but I had the chinese version, Sriracha. I used 2TBSP instead of the 3 called for and increased the Mayo to counteract the hotter heat. I also had a log of Goat cheese in my Fridge that needed to be used so I added that too, which provided an extra creamy touch to the dish. It really was a terrific recipe both fresh and leftover. I warm it slightly in the microwave so that the lettuce isnt so wilted and it is phenomenal."
"I made this today and followed the recipe except for the suggestion by someone of serving it on shredded lettuce instead of mixing the lettuce in. I did add grd. pepper because we like pepper. The sauce is so tasty and my husband really loved it. Fresh summery BLT flavor! A real keeper."
"At first I put too much chili sauce and itwas too spicy. I started over and used 1tbsp of chili sauce instead of 3 tbsp and ittasted much better to me. Very good."
"Wow, this was very popular at our cookout! I doublled the amount of bacon and added 1/2 cup of sour cream and extra chili sauce to the batch I made... to make it extra saucy and punch up the flavor. It was nice to try out a new pasta salad!"
"This is sooo delicious! I added a more tomatoes, onions, and mayo to taste and it turned out great!"
"Made this for a BBQ today, got rave reviews."
"Everyone loved it! Made if for the 4th of July."
"This salad was very good. I substituted chopped baby arugula for the shredded lettuce, which added a nice peppery flavor. N"
"I serve it on shredded lettuce, instead of mixing it together. Otherwise if you have leftovers, the lettuce is all wilted, not very appetizing."
"Actually the picture on the other BLT Macaroni Salad looks more like this one, since this one calls for lettuce and the other one doesn't. Makes a great salad, just make more dressing, as the macaroni soaks it up while standing."
"I LOVE BLT sandwiches and Pasta, so this is a great combination for a summer salad! Let it sit overnight so all the ingredients can mingle. You wont be disappointed!"
"This salad is terrific!! I have made it several times and it just keeps getting better."
"This is excellent! Except I did not put in the chili sauce - 1, I don't put it on my BLTs and 2, I didn't have any. Next time I will put a full cup of tomato in, and also add a little more mayo. Nice cool salad on a hot, humid day."
"When I found this recipe I doubled it because I knew what a hit it will become. I made extra sauce and used a whole pound of bacon. I also cooked the pasta aldente. The pasta absorbs some of the sauce that way and taste better."
"Good salad, but needed more dressing. Next time I'll try 1 1/2 times the recipe."
"I liked this however, my mentioned that the sauce tasted like Thousand Island Dressing. Not the reaction I wanted. It tastes best with freshly cooked bacon crumbled on ea. serving & the shredded lettuce underneath. IMO."
"We love this salad! I have made it many times, and decided to rate it because I got online to share it with a friend. As we often make it up (except for the lettuce and bacon) early in the day, it seemed to get a bit dry, so we make an extra half a dressing recipe to add in when we add the lettuce. It's just great on a hot summer day!"
"Excellent salad just made it and had to give it a taste. Give it a 10. Didn't have any chili sauce so just added a bit of chili powder...Also added a bit more bacon, never can have to much bacon."
