Reviews for Best Fudgy Brownies
"The best brownie recipe. Did have to cook for an additional 10 min."
"My family loved this recipe. The brownies were moist and yummy! Saving this one for later use!"
"These brownies were excellent! They were very fudgy and not at all dry, as a previous reviewer mentioned. In fact, they were very moist and soft. We sifted some confectioner's sugar on top before serving. Delicious!"
"I try to seldom give negative reviews, but these brownies are awful. There is nothing fudgy about them. I've been a baker for over 20 years and was just looking for a different brownie recipe. Followed the recipe exactly....twice... because I was convinced had to have messed up horribly the first time. These are dry and chalky, and as I said, not the least bit fudgy. They went in the trash. Maybe melting the butter or using oil instead would help, and cutting back on the cocoa and flour...but I'm not even going to waste my ingedients by trying again."
"These make excellent cookies. 325* for 10 minutes."
"I cooked these brownies at 375 for 25 minutes. They came out perfect! The perfect mix of cake-like and fudge-like. YUM!"
"I've made these several times and they were perfect each time! I added semi sweet chocolate chips to the batter. Delicious!!!"
"These brownies were so thick and dry...barely edible!"
"I made them for my family and then eat then all!!!They are still asking for me to make them!!!"
"I love this recipe! I did add in a little bit more sugar as well as vanilla, but other than that absolutely delicious!"
"I recall preparing these brownies when they were featured in Taste of Home! I'd greased and floured my pan! I use 1 tsp. salt when using 2 cups flour! These brownies were delicious! I baked brownies for the prescribed time-25 to 30 minutes, using a cake tester todetermine the doneness! delowenstein"
"Delicious and simple. This is the second time that I have made them and they came out beautifully each time. They do take longer than 25 minutes. An additional 5-10 minutes depending on your oven and the altitude. If the butter/sugar mixture isn't light and fluffy than the butter wasn't soft enough. This happened to me the first time. Don't fret, they still turn out. And they are thick no matter what! They are "fudgy brownies" so don't let that freak you out. It was thick enough that it was difficult to spread in the pan. I just plopped it in, put it in the oven for a couple minutes, and then pulled it out to smooth it before putting it back in. Delicious! They were a hit with my coworkers and were requested again for my boss' birthday. Don't sub margarine or Splenda! Just go for it and enjoy :)Btw- it's bad form to rate brownies with 1star simply because there are no nuts. You lowered the entire overall review dramatically because you prefer it with nuts? That's really silly. This doesn't make them "not real brownies", just not your preference. If you want them so much, just add them! There are so many people with severe nut allergies that it is smart to leave them out."
"No nuts, not my idea of brownies. Brownies must be chocolate with nits and absolutely no icing or chips of any kind added or I don't care how good they are, they're not brownies."
"they looked good they sound good so y not just make them mm mm good brownies- amber from FL"
"I made these Friday night. Timed them to cook 33 minutes. There were absolutely decadent. I added some chocolate, white chocolate and peanut butter morsels along with some walnuts and craisins. Probably a 1/4 cup total - just enough. I will never make a box brownie mix again. Thank you for this wonderful recipe."
"This recipe turned out beautifully for me! I made them this afternoon, and they baked for exactly 30 minutes. I checked them at 25 and they were not quite done. Also, these brownies turned out picture perfect; much of the time, my baked goods taste good, but don't cut neatly. These brownies are the best I have ever seen for making nice neat presentable squares; no crumbly brownies here. My daughter loved the brownie I gave her to taste test; I am going to leave a few out for snacking, and then wrap up the rest to put in the freezer for future chocolate emergencies!!!"
"My husband and son raved over these brownies! This is now my go to recipe. It made a HUGE batch which we were glad to share with the neighbors who begged for the recipe!"
"I made these brownies for the baked goods booth at my church's festival this weekend, individually wrapped each one in plastic wrap, and they were all sold before noon on the first day! Easy and delicious!"
"Just as the name says - they are fudgy! Very easy to make too, which makes me want to make them again. I'll have no problem devouring these! I did half the recipe and put it in an 8x8 pan, put mini M&M's on top."
"These were really good, and easy to make! I split them into two batches and put walnuts in half. Thank you for sharing!"
"So yummy! I had to bake them 10 minutes longer, as well, but what flavor! Super easy to make too! Thanks for the recipe!"
"The best brownies I have ever made.Because the recipe makes so many, I froze half since there is only my husband and I to enjoy them. They are just as good the second time around out of the freezer."
"These are the best brownies I have ever made. Because the recipe made so much, I froze half since there is only my husband and myself. They were just as good the second time around. My husband loves them."
"Brownies are a favorite here. These are a keeper."
"Brownies without baking powder?"
"Super easy and just the right consistency. I have finally found a brownie recipe to replace the box! They did take 10-15 minutes longer to cook, but we are at high altitude, and that always messes with recipes."
"The best brownie recipe ever! Followed recipe exactly and they were perfect!! Done in 30 minutes"
"These definitely weren't done in 25-30 minutes' time. I had to put them back in for 12 more minutes, and I still don't know if they're really done. But with all the butter, sugar, and cocoa, I'm sure my family will think they're yummy."
"Made this recipe, easy to follow, had all the ingredient in my cupboards. Husband and I LOVED IT."
"Everyone has agreed these are the best brownies ever! I agree with another reviewer-- we will not buy box mixes anymore. I did have to bake them about 15 min longer--maybe because I used a stoneware style pan. I also dropped little chocolate chip cookie dough balls on the top because we had some left over from a batch of cookies. Very tasty!!"
"I finally made the perfect brownie from scratch!!! These were so good, that I have another batch in the oven right now!"
"These were the best brownies every. No more box brownies for our family. My husband doesn't eat sweets but, he loved these."
"So easy and good! Love the rich fudge flavor."
"Very good, basic brownie recipe. I've been making this recipe since it was first printed and it's the one I go to most often."
"Best brownies ever! Even my husband who is a self-proclaimed peanut butter lover raved about how great these were heated up with icecream. I also used dark cocoa as I am a dark chocolate lover and again, best brownies ever!"
"My eleven-year-old made these yesterday and they were perfect! Similar texture to brownies in a box, but a way better flavor. We used regular sugar-no Splenda. We'll definitely make them again!"
"Have not made yet. Can u use margarine or butter only?"
"Have not made it yet"
"Great- all around awesome brownie! Chocolately goodness- 'nuff said?"
"It looks REALLY REALLY delicious! Cananyone else tell me if it tastes good? Thank you!"
"These had good flavor and were chewy on the bottom, but the very top layer was very dry & almost crunchy, and mine didn't really look like the photo. Maybe I did something wrong."
"the brownies were moist and rose even without levaning."
"I can't believe anyone is still using chemical sweeteners...I used Splenda to kill ants and it worked great! Use raw sugar in your food and you'll live longer!!!"
"yes I make 3 times already and will make it again my family and friends love this and the best of it is ingredients are always available..."
"These are our favorite brownies because we like "chewy" brownies rather than cake-like brownies. I have never had problems with the recipe and made it dozens of times. They are anything but dry-they are very moist and chewy. I would suspect it could have been the Splenda and maybe try them again with regular sugar. Also, did you mix the butter/sugar by hand or with a mixer? The batter is a bit thicker but not as thick as you describe."
"I'm so sorry your brownies didn't turn out. I've not tried this particular recipe, so I can't help with this one; however, I use a tried and true one from TOH - http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Fudgy-Brownies-5Hope you have a better experience!"
"I tried the 'Fudgy Brownies' for the first time a couple days ago and I was so disappointed I almost cried. Right from the start things were wrong in the recipe it says to mix the cream butter and sugar until "light and fluffy" will that isn't how it came out. It was thick and stiff and every time I added another ingredient it got even worst. I double checked my ingredients then triple checked them. I double and tripled check the amount of each ingredient and I did and used exactly as the recipe said too. It came out very, very dry and almost tasteless. The only thing I used as an alternative was I used Splenda NO Calorie Sweetener instead of regular sugar and that should not have made a bit of difference. What did I do or what should I have done if anything??? I"ve check and the Splenda should not have made any difference at all.Steve from Steve's Kitchen."
