Reviews for Best-Ever Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
"This was a great recipe. It was not your run-of-the-mill sandwich - great flavors going on! It was great as it was, but you could change it up many ways."
"We made this three days ago for Girl's Friday Night and the sandwiches were great hit with everyone! We had a lot of leftover meats and cheeses from a food day at work and so we made a variety of these sandwiches with different meats using a paninni sandwich maker to grill them. One of my friends even sprinkled garlic and Italian seasoning on the butter for grilling. Great idea! Thanks for the good recipes, TOH!"
"Good stuff, mix in what you prefer. The mayo & mustard give a nice tang that reminds me of a deviled egg, my favorite. BTW if you have one, dust off your George Foreman grill to press the sandwiches. It works amazing...I don't use them for cooking anything else. No need to butter the bread, just swipe the griddle with butter & you're good to go. Crunchy outside & gooey inside. Yummo. Thanks TOH & the OP for taking a simple grilled cheese & helping me think outside the box."
"Recipe sounds awesome. Will make tomorrow. Thank you."
"Thank You! Taste of Home for all of your Recipes!Delicious!"
"I heard of a recipe that calls for putting some of the grated cheese on the outside with the butter to make a cheesy crust on the outside, yum"
"Good to know not everybody makes the same old, same old when it comes to grilled cheese sandwiches. This one is refreshingly different, creative, not boring."
"I've been making various grilled cheese sandwiches based on this for 50 years. The secret is DON'T use American cheese. Use a couple of good quality cheeses and the tang of the mustard and mayonnaise give it that extra "oomph". You can add and subtract ingredients to your taste and you can't go wrong."
"My first time making a Grilled Cheese. It came out pretty good. I might try playing with other combinations of cheese next time, or adding other ingredients. Its really unlimited as to what you can do to it."
"I will make again, nice change from standard American cheese. I didn't have my multi-grain bread so used the whole grain white. Next time I will chop my basil leaves so when biting the whole leaf doesn't come out."
"This quite possibly is the "best-ever" grilled cheese! Can't wait to use fresh garden tomatoes. Will definitely make again!"
