Basic Cooked Rice Recipe
Rice is a quick-to-fix accompaniment to any entree. Our home economists know that leftovers can easily be turned into tasty makeovers.
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1. In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat; let stand for 5 minutes. Yield: 3 cups.
1 serving (1 cup) equals 259 calories, 4 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 10 mg cholesterol, 828 mg sodium, 49 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 4 g protein.
