Reviews for Barbecue Pork and Penne Skillet
"Great quick meal. Was looking for something different to make and this was excellent choice. Thought it could use more pulled pork then the one container suggested and I will use my own pulled pork next time. Wanted to taste more of it.Found it impossible to add all ingredients and mix up in the frying pan so mixed all in large casserole and it still was overflowing."
"This recipe was AWESOME! Great flavor with a nice kick to it. I though it was a little too dry, next time I make it and there will definitely be a next time I will probably put in the whole can of broth. The green onions on top were the perfect accent to the dish. Thanks for the recipe!"
"This recipe is over the top delicious! It was a hit with the whole family and will definitely go in my regular rotation. It was super quick to whip up, and the flavor was incredible."
"I have been making this recipe for a couple of years now. It is wonderful. Everyone likes it. I make it just as it is and use Lloyd's pulled pork BBQ"
"I made this last night with leftover BBQ pork and my family loved it."
"It sounds so good. But my husband and teens did not like it real well. It is very flavorful and unique. So have to scratch it off my lst."
"The easiest and quickest meal I've ever made. A little tangy depending on which kind of pulled pork you buy with the BBQ sauce already mixed in."
"This sounds different, but the flavor is really good! Have made this many times. Thank you for sharing this recipe."
"This was great!!! My husband and picky teenage son really liked it. I thought it was delicious also. I don't understand the comment that said it was bland. It wasn't bland at all, in fact it had quite a kick to it and was VERY tasty. I used Lloyd's BBQ Shredded Pork. Maybe they used some other brand? Also I used the Original Tomatoes w Green Chilis and it is more spicy than the mild version. Using what I spent (some ingredients were on sale), I found this meal to be around $1.50 per person which is a real bargain."
"Delish!!! My boyfriend said, this meal is in the top 5 meals in our house! Yummy!!!!"
"A little sweet. If no BBQ flavor might be really good"
"It feels unhealthy, but tastes oh so good. Also, super easy to make. The delicious smell was making me impatient. I left out the green onion and added a little bit of dried chives instead I also added french fried onions on top."
"delicious a little kicky for me so next time I cut both cumin and pepper in half still had a kick but not as spicy."
"Weird combo. Not too bad though."
"I made this today and it was really good. I used roasted red bell peppers but that is the only thing I changed. We will be having this again for something different."
"I was a little disappointed in how this turned out, but that was due to the gluten free rice pasta I used. It's so easy to overcook that, and it broke up as the dish heated through. Other than that, though, we liked the idea of BBQ pork with pasta. Like others, I used leftover BBQ pork I had made. I had a honey BBQ sauce and just didn't think the cumin and chilies would work that well with it, so I used plain diced tomatoes and substituted chili powder for cumin. We thought it had a great flavor and it did make a lot. We love leftovers, so that is great!"
"Good texture, easy and quick to put together, not too spicy for the kids (6 & 10), 10 yr old asked if she could have leftovers for her lunch tomorrow. However, my dh and I did not care for it. I think pork w/o the BBQ might be better for us. To be fair, we don't make many one pan meals. We prefer meat, grain & vegetable separate. If you like BBQ pork it's definitely worth trying. It does make a huge pan full."
"This recipe was amazing the only difference i did in making it was use regular onions as i did not have any green but i can not wait to try it with the green onions and green chills"
"My son-in-law's comment, after his third helping, "That one's a keeper!""
"I've been wanting to try this for awhile. I used my own leftover barbecued pork roast, which I cooked in the slow cooker yesterday. I did not use butter and did not have any peppers our would have used some. Used the whole can of beef broth (low sodium), added gradually for the pasta to absorb. I like the flavor of the cumin in the dish I also used medium whole wheat shells. I love this type of food...and especially new pasta dishes, but unfortunately such dishes are not my family's cup of tea. However, I enjoyed this for supper and will take it for my lunches this week. It does make a lot."
"I made my own BBQ pork as well and used the leftovers for this dish. Both my husband and I thought it was excellent and full of flavour."
"Tried it last night for the first time. My kids werent thrilled because of the peppers but they are still young. Me and my husband thought it was delicious. We had the left overs for lunch. Super quick, cheap and easy to make."
"I made my own pork BBQ rather than use the (unhealthy) store-bought one. Good recipe."
"I did a fresh pork roast with it didn't use the whole roast and using leftovers for pork BBQ sandwichs and I also used spiral noodles this was delicious"
"The men in my house ate it in 2 days, which means it was a hit, made it with whole wheat pasta...yummy!!!"
"We really enjoy this one, and I don't usually change a thing. It does make a lot - which is nice when you don't want to cook the next day."
"I made this yesterday, my wife and I love it. Wonderful flavor and texture. Good as a left over too."
"It was ok. A little too much ground cumin for my taste and I didn't even use the full amount."
"I tried this for my 18 year old son and his friends - they loved it. I used Rotel instead of the tomatoes and it added a nice extra bite :) It also made enough to fill them up!"
"This was fabulous. Had some kick but not too much! My husband and kids really liked it too!"
"Sorry, no one in the family liked this & it made a lot. Nothing special about it. I am going through each recipe in my magazine and trying them. Not a keeper."
"I have made this several times, with store bought BBQ pork and homemade, I love this recipe, fast and delicious. For those complaining about spice, use diced tomatoes without ANY green chilies which would help. Hopefully this review will let me pick 5 stars right now it is stuck on 3..."
"This recipe was DEELISH! Loved it. I did do some short cuts. I purchased a tub of premade pulled pork at my local grocery store for $4. Also, instead of red bell peppers, I used green. Since the prepackaged pulled pork had a enough sauce, I poured the entire can (juice and all) into the skillet and it thinned it out. We will definitely do this again because prep and cook time was a total of 15 minutes. Thank you, Mrs. Judy."
"I made this awhile back, and it just didn't do anything for me. I wish I knew what went wrong so I could fix it, because I really wanted to love it. Sorry, it's just not for me."
"I found this recipe while searching top 10 recipe lists. It grabbed my attention because I just happened to have some left over pulled pork. Boy am I glad I did. It was delicious. It is just my fiance and I, so we had a good bit of leftovers. That was no problem though because we both loved it so much we ate it several days in a row. The second day it was a little dry so I added a big spoon of sour cream while heating. It changed the flavor just a bit, but still great."
"Easy and delicious! Spicy, but not too hot. My family really loves this!!"
"This seemed to upset everyone's stomach at my house and I didn't even include the red pepper and green onions. I think the spiciness of the BBQ sauce that was in my pork, combined with the Ro-Tel, was overwhelming. I did like the concept of BBQ & pasta, though. I might try it again with a different flavor of BBQ, but it won't be any time soon."
"Love this recipe, easy and delicious!"
"I love to try new things but my hubby doesn't! But this went over great and now it is on the expanding list of what my husband likes. Even though I have a family of 6 there are leftovers."
"My family loved it! My daughter especially. This is the second time I've made it, and she requested it. She works at a fast - food restaurant and wanted a home cooked meal. Paired it with a salad, delicious!"
"Really good! My whole family liked it - - even the picky kid who doesn't like BBQ! Will definitely make again."
"The refrigerated barbecued pork is already a staple in our house so finding another use for it was a plus! This recipe came together quickly and tastes delicious! I would have never thought to put the barbecued pork over pasta, but it works!"
"By mistake I purchased a Pulled Beef container. It was good. Maybe next time I will pay attention and pull the pork container."
"I MAY or mya not make this again. It needs tweeking For my taste it is little too spicy . If I did try it again ,I would grestly reduce the pepper. Plus I would add just a bit more cheese. It did leave you totally satisfied, as well as reduced "grazing" later. So, I think this may be a good try for someone cooking for teen boys or big eaters."
"I have made this a couple of times for my family of five and they love it. I have 3 growing boys who are hard to fill up, but this always makes more than enough. It is a little spicy for my little one so i may adjust that next time. Very easy and inexpensive."
"This had great flavor! I used half ground beef/half ground deer meat in BBQ sauce since my husband hunts. I also added green pepper and will definitely make this often!"
"Great recipe. Simple and inexpensive to make."
"A quick dish to throw together. Great flavors, will make again."
"Glad I found this one!"
" Take a cheap cut of pork (I use a pork butt), remove the bone and some of the fat but not all, use a dry rub of spices of your choice ( I use garlic powder, dry mustard, brown sugar, smokey paprika, a little salt, and black pepper) place it in a crock pot, and cook on low for about 5-6 hours until fork tender. Remove from the crock pot and with two table forks, begin shredding the pork. Place all of the shredded pork in a stove top pan and add your favorite bar-b-que sauce and heat through. Very simple and very tasty.Hope this helps. Scott
"If you live in an area where fully cooked BBQ shredded pork is not available, any suggestions on how to make it?"
"I have tried this with pork and chicken. My family loves this recipe!"
"Made without the cumin b/c our 2 yr old eats it as well. We love it and will continue to make it!"
"This was great.... a real gutbuster."
"Too much barbecue flavor for my liking."
"This is an easy and very tasty meal!! It was a little spicy for my kids so I now make it with regular diced tomatoes. Overall, a great recipe."
"I should have written sooner, because this is one of my favorite TOH recipes. It is sooo easy and tasty and everyone raves about it. It makes a complete dinner."
"Decided to forgo the green chilies for my picky "I hate green" child, but kept the rest and it's great! Have also left out the onion (I just forgot!) and it was also great. No beef broth? No problem: I substituted red wine and it was--you guessed it--great. Now a family favorite no matter HOW I make it!"
"This was really good! So easy and so good!"
"Wow, such amazing flavor! We make this at least once a month."
"This was really good. Easy to make too! A nice change of pace!"
"This is really good and easy to make. Will definitely make it again."
"Yum! We all loved this recipe and will definately make it again soon!"
"The kids and even the husband loved this-not a leftover to be had!"
"We loved this. I made my own pulled pork instead of using prepared, but it was excellent."
"This was very tasty although my family did vote to serve it over rice next time. It would also be good with potatoes or served on a roll. It was very easy to put together and was also a great way to stretch the container of BBQ pork. We'll definitely make it again!"
"I made this for supper tonight. My husband would rather eat pork than any other meat, so this, of course was a hit. It was quick and easy to put together. Definitely a keeper."
