Reviews for Ballpark Baked Beans
"I prepared these beans 12/9/13 and I decided to tweak the recipe to fit my tastes! I'd actually made them before, but since I had the time today and it was bad weather out, it was the kind of day to be in the kitchen and mix up this dish! I used one can Bush's homestyle Baked Beans (1 lb.), 1 can (15.8--oz.) Bush's Great Northern Beans, drained & rinsed, one onion, finely sliced, 2 Tbsp. BBQ sauce (Hickory-Smoked), 2 tsp. spicy brown mustard, one package of Butcher's Prime BBQ'd Pork Ribs, cooked and diced(17-oz.) and one fresh pineapple, cut into tidbits! I microwaved the BBQ'd Pork Ribs according to the directions on the package, then I cut the meat into smaller pieces, & mixed both the Great Northern Beans, baked beans, BBQ Sauce, mustard, and onion with the cubed, cooked pork ribs in its sauce and I baked the mixture in a 2-1/2-qt. baking dish for 30 minutes. I then added the fresh pineapple which I'd cut into smaller pieces and baked it 30 minutes longer. The oven temperature was kept at 350o F.I think this dish is tasty-when I'd prepared it the first time & it was first featured in Taste of Home! This time I also omitted the sugar since the baked beans I'd used already had a tangy sauce and brown sugar added & the BBQ sauce/cooked pork ribs had a thick, rich, sweet sauce, too! I figured that the dish had enough sugar and was already sweet! Sue Gronholz, THANK YOU, my Fellow Field Editor, for this recipe! Certainly as one of the first Field Editors since TOH began, you've really come out with delicious recipes! delowenstein"
"These were really easy to make and I thought they were okay, but I usually like smokier flavored pork and beans and this is definately a sweeter tasting version. Not bad, just not my family's cup of tea."
"These beans are THE BEST! Everyone loves them when I make them! I usually double it and hope for leftovers."
"Excellent and healthy!!"
