This quick and easy Amish breakfast bar recipe is one of my most cherished because it's hearty and flavorful. My wonderful husband loves to eat...especially what I make!

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1-1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cups raisins
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Nutritional Facts

1 cup: 297 calories, 15g fat (2g saturated fat), 38mg cholesterol, 285mg sodium, 36g carbohydrate (21g sugars, 3g fiber), 6g protein.


  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking dish. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cut into squares. Yield: 4-6 servings.

"I tried it using a scant 1/2 c of flour....thumbs up!

they stick together and are still tasty.
If you add a cup of flour, they are very scone like.
1/3 cup of flour and they still fall apart.
I've made them several times this week and the kids have been enjoying them."

"there's no flour in this recipe?is that an omission, but it would explain why they won't stick together, I am going to make them (again)and add some flour and see if that helps."
