This quick and easy Amish breakfast bar recipe is one of my most cherished because it's hearty and flavorful. My wonderful husband loves to eat...especially what I make!

Ingredients

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1-1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cups raisins
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Nutritional Facts

1 serving (1 cup) equals 297 calories, 15 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 38 mg cholesterol, 285 mg sodium, 36 g carbohydrate, 3 g fiber, 6 g protein.

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking dish. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cut into squares. Yield: 4-6 servings.

I had WAY too much oatmeal! This was an excellent way to use them!

I tried it using a scant 1/2 c of flour....thumbs up!

they stick together and are still tasty.

If you add a cup of flour, they are very scone like.

1/3 cup of flour and they still fall apart.

I've made them several times this week and the kids have been enjoying them.

there's no flour in this recipe?is that an omission, but it would explain why they won't stick together, I am going to make them (again)and add some flour and see if that helps.

They were very good, tasted like an oatmeal cookie, but wouldn't stick together, became granola.
