I thought this recipe would have significantly more flavor than it did. I even used a spicy BBQ sauce. Will not make again.
This is a go to recipe. When I bring leftovers to work, everyone stops and asks what smells so yummy. I've given out the recipe several times. Great comfort food!
EVERYONE ate it!! With four boys and a picky husband who usually requires a side of beef at every meal, it's increasingly difficult to please everyone. This is a winner!
I didn't have pickles, so I used some dill pickle relish mixed in with the water and sauce instead, and it came out pretty good. I also cooked the ground beef in the same pan that I cooked the bacon in, and that helped add to the flavor.
Made this last night - it's a great idea and was an easy recipie to make, but it's not something that I would make again - I think that it needed a bit of salt added and maybe more barbeque sauce.
