This was very tasty, but too much bread and not enough filling. I would either use 2 lbs. of meat and 2 taco seasonings or I would use 1 tube of biscuits and cook in a 11X7 dish instead.

We loved the concept with the biscuits and salsa and my kids liked arranging the biscuits in the pan. We may try it again, but we would cut out the chili and fill in with more of the taco meat.

Has anybody made half this recipe? Or made it in two dishes and frozen one? It sounds good, but too much for two people. Thanks.

I diced some onion and jalapeno pepper in with the hamburger mixture and browned it all together. I substituted two cans of the crescent rolls instead of biscuits. Layered one can on the bottom, added the filling and cheese, and layed the second can of rolls on the next layer, then remaining filling and cheese. Served it with the lettuce, tomato's, sour cream and salsa. My family loved it!
Many of you said you couldn't find Chili Con Carne at your local grocery store. I found it at several stores in the Canned Chili aisle. Nalleys and several other brands had it in the 15 oz. cans. Chili Con Carne is in smaller letters around the middle of the can. Krogers, Fred Meyer, Safeway and Albertsons all have it.

You are right this was a very easy recipe, however, I too had trouble finding a can of chili con carne so I just made it with hamburger, taco mix, onions and garlic for the meat mixture. The part that I was not thrilled about was the the thickness of biscuit base. If you use 2 rolls of biscuits, the base ends up being 2-3 inches high in a 9x13 pan and you end up tasting more bread than tacos. I will try this again, but instead I think I will try using crescent rolls laid out on the bottom to reduce the thickness .
