This looks like a great recipe but for those who opt to go dairy-free for any reason, you can substitute the vanilla ice cream for ice cream by Coconut Bliss. All of their ice creams are organic and are made from coconut milk.As for the milk, you can replace that with soy, almond or coconut milk (So Delicious is a good brand I use). Best to go organic and look for soy that is non-GMO. Easily found. For the strawberry yogurt, you can replace with silken tofu OR use coconut or soy yogurt and infuse some pure vanilla or more strawberries into the shake if you don't find flavored varieties of non-dairy yogurts.Check your local health food markets for these. Whole Foods, Sprouts, and so forth are good places to look into if they are in and/or near your area.As for the whipped cream, it's not really needed but if you want another dairy-free option (that's also healthy), try making whipped coconut cream. Incredibly delicious...and unique.Take some COLD full-fat coconut milk and beat in a chilled bowl with your mixer until it is somewhat fluffy, then blend in some powdered sugar, add vanilla bean extract or paste, and then add a few teaspoons of coconut flour a bit at a time for stable consistency and continue to whip it up until you have your fluffy and whipped coconut cream for your shake.

Absolutely wonderful...& the raspberry version sounds great, too! For the diet conscious--simple--don't make it! Anyway, if you'd read the nutrition part, it states that 1 CUP is a serving...not 'all that ice cream'.

I reduced fat and calories by simply using skim milk and low fat ice cream. My kids loved it and they got some nutrition from the fruit!:)

YUMMY!!!! We loved it!!! Anyone who is watching their weight and says this is too fattening shouldn't be looking at the recipe anyway!!! Hellllooooooooooooo!!!!

Fantastic! Loved it! BTW, I really hate it when people rate and review a recipe when #1 They haven't made it and don't plan to #2 to complain about what's "wrong" with it when, again they haven't made it! If the recipe doesn't claim to be low fat/ no fat/ anemic, then there is nothing wrong! If you want low fat, go munch on some carrot sticks! Jeez!

I enjoyed this recipe immensely after a long hot trail ride on my horse! Yummy! DBHIBL, no where did I see anyone claim that this was a 'diet' or 'low-cal' or even a 'healthy' recipe. I don't believe a submitted recipe deserves only 2 stars because someone doesn't 'like' the fat content. Perhaps you should try the weight watchers cookbook?

Delicious. It's funny, that one reviewer said it was too fattening...hello, it's a shake!

Way too fattening with all that ice cream. I would leave that out just use the yogurt. Also leave out the whipped cream; you really don't need it!

I really like the idea but used raspberry yogurt and fresh raspberries in place of the strawberries. The peach melba combination always wins for me. Thanks for sharing.
