Who can resist soft chocolate sandwich cookies filled with a layer of fluffy white frosting? Mom has made these for years...they're a treat that never lasted very long with me and my two brothers around. -Maria Costello, Monroe, North Carolina

I wasn't crazy about the filling. Kids liked the cookies without the filling. I made the red velvet ones and everyone loved them.

Liked the cookie not the cream. I like the marshmallow cream better.

I loved these! They are perfect whoopie pies and just like the ones my aunt from Lancaster PA makes. Some whoopie pie recipes are too hard in the cakey part but this wasn't. These were awesome - everyone wanted seconds!!!!

The cookie part was fantastic and exactly what I was looking for, but the filling was...honestly, "ewww" is the best I can come up with to describe it. It seemed like a lot of shortening for the amount of powdered sugar, and it is. Far, far too much. I tried mixing it for 10 minutes, and it left a greasy feeling on my tongue without being at all tasty; tried adding more powdered sugar, which cut the greasy feeling a little; tried adding more vanilla, which resulted in a vanilla-flavored greasy feeling; and, finally, gave up and made buttercream frosting and filled them with that.I have no idea how the filling works for anyone. I will note that I don't like Oreo filling because it tastes like shortening to me, so maybe if I did, I'd have been more positive about this? Anyhow, like I said, cookie part was great.

I was looking for a recipe similar to what I used to eat as a kid and these are the best. The cakes are perfect - they puff nicely as mini's. I prefer to fill them with peanut butter frosting. :)

These were incredible. I was looking for a scratch recipe and not a cake mix and this was so perfect. It seems like it would take a long time but doesn't really. I used crisco for the cookie and half butter half crisco for the filling. I was imagining a icing filling but it was more like a stiff pudding taste..like vanilla. They are so good. I tinted the filling green for Saint Patty's Day. Will def. make again!!
