I made this recipe for my husband per his special request and we were both VERY pleased! It's a simple recipe with great flavor and texture! I added dried basil and an extra cup of water as recommended from others after reading the reviews! I'll definately be making it again! :)

This is the best soup for a cold winter day! Don't forget the crusty bread to go with it.

I love this soup. Its easy, and uses up leftover ham nicely. I add additional garlic (1 clove), bay leaf and onion, but otherwise the recipe is the same. You may have to add some additional fluid (water, chicken broth) during the cooking time, I usually do. It is a very delicious recipe, We only wish we had more leftovers!

This soup was great. I added water to it so that it would not be too thick. I added 2 cups of water for 1 1/2 batch

Absolutely wonderful!! I omitted the garlic and bay leaf.

This soup is in the crock-pot right now and smells delicious. Didn't have a bay leaf, added a tsp. of dried basil for extra flavor.

I agree with the other reviewers; a wonderful soup recipe! I made it vegetarian by using 5 cups vegetable broth instead of water and eliminated the ham. It is delicious!

This is a great recipe! I doubled the water, split peas, salt, pepper, and milk to make a double batch. I left out the carrots, and added in a ham bone from a left over spiral ham. Boy, this soup was really good! Hubby and I both loved it and each have at least 2 lunches for this week too! Love that it's a crock pot recipe too.

This soup was delicious, the first and last recipe I will ever use. It is thick when it cools but I like it that way.

This is a great recipe and extremely easy to prepare. It is definitely one of my favorites. I do find that once the soup cools, it is way too "solid" for my liking, and I find myself adding water to it before reheating. I also turn the slow cooker to low for the final two hours or else it will burn. Of course, all slow cookers are different.I highly recommend this recipe to anyone who likes split pea soup!
