Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar, packed
3/4 c. butter
2 lg. eggs
2 T. hot water
2 T. orange juice
1½ tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1½ tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. orange candy slices

Directions

Cream sugar and butter; add eggs and beat well. Combine hot water, orange juice and baking soda. Add alternately with flour, cream of tartar and salt. Reserve 1/2 cup flour and sprinkle over orange slices before slicing into small pieces. Add orange slices that are cut and mix with a spoon. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
