Chocolate-Covered Coffee Bean Tips

What do you do with chocolate-covered coffee beans?

Besides eating them on their own as a snack, chocolate-covered coffee beans are unique and delicious decorations for coffee, chocolate or your favorite mocha dessert recipes. Wrapped in a pretty jar or cellophane bag with ribbon, they also make a great edible gift.

How many chocolate-covered coffee beans equal a cup of coffee?

You would need to eat more than 40 chocolate-covered coffee beans to meet the caffeine equivalent of one cup of coffee. The caffeine content in coffee is about 165mg for an 8-oz. cup, while one chocolate-covered espresso bean contains around 2 to 4 mg (some of the caffeine is from the chocolate).

What variations of this chocolate-covered coffee bean recipe can I try?

To add your own twist to this chocolate-covered coffee bean recipe, you can use milk chocolate or white chocolate instead of semisweet. You can also try tossing the beans in powdered sugar, cocoa or powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon. For a kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. If you prefer flavored coffee, purchase the flavored coffee in whole beans and swap those out for the regular coffee beans.
