From the Editor
Boo! Halloween is now second only to Christmas in holiday hoopla. Isn’t it fun to see how people decorate their homes and yards, their creative costumes and the spooky food they make?
Hope you noticed the creepy treats that Taste of Home readers shared in the Fright Night feature (Oct/Nov 09, p. 76). The Sugar Ghost Cupcakes are showstoppers—and so cleverly made using mini peanut butter cups and malted milk balls for the ghosts’ “bodies.” And how about those oozing Swamp Juice glasses (p. 81)? Yikes!
We hope you’ll get involved in National Cooks Who Care Week, Nov. 8-14. Read more about it on page 104 of your Oct/Nov issue.
I’ll be retiring this month as editor of Taste of Home and sister magazine Country Woman, after 38 years with the company. It’s been a wonderful and flavorful career! I’m leaving you with a list of my 25 favorite recipes from over the years.
In your next newsletter, you’ll be hearing from Barb Schuetz, Taste of Home’s new Editor. Barb’s been on our staff for 7 years, the past several as managing editor. I Know you’ll enjoy getting to know her!
