Tour My Kitchen
Julie Hass and her husband, Brian live in a 1910 Victorian home in West Point, Nebraska. By the time their fifth son was born, they realized they’d need to do a lot of work to make room for a growing family. The kitchen was out of date and too small to seat more than four people.
They wanted to create a food prep area large enough for at least two cooks (Brian loves to cook!) that was also open to the dining area so they could keep an eye on the kids. Creating an easy flow of through traffic that didn’t interfere with cooking was also a necessity. It’s difficult to prepare dinner for nine with seven children walking through!
A large seating area was also a must for the family, which now includes Nathaniel, 14; Blake, 12; Tanner, 10; Mitchell, 9; Noah, 6; Sophia, 5; and Isabel, 3.
Now, as detailed in the October/November magazine, the renovated kitchen provides the perfect place for everyone to gather—comfortably!
