Kitchen Redo Has Northwoods Flavor

CHRISTMAS comes but once a year…unless you throw a “Christmas in July” party like Sally Witte did.

“I decorated the house all over again, but this time my Christmas theme was ‘Americana’ to tie in to Independence Day,” says Sally. “Since you can decorate for both holidays with stars, it was easy to combine them.

“I made 12-inch stars from branches to hang around the house. I covered the table with a red tablecloth and draped 12-inch-wide flag ribbon over it.”

Sally sent out Americana invitations, fit place cards in flat-bottomed ornaments and served food on red and blue plates. There was even a gift exchange.

Along with the family’s traditional Christmas punch, she set out a spread of appetizers and sweets, all made using Taste of Home recipes
