Watch Your Weight

We'd been married a couple of years when we bought our first microwave oven. My husband, Bob, loved my pot roast, so I thought I'd save time and cook it in the microwave. After work one day, I prepared the roast, following the recipe in the manual that came with the microwave.

The roast was done in no time, and it looked and smelled great. But when Bob tried to slice the meat, it was as hard as a hockey puck.

After reading the recipe again, I noticed that it called for 4 pounds of meat; I had used only 2. I didn't realize that the weight would make a difference!

Now, whenever I say I'm going to make pot roast, Bob asks if I plan to use the microwave. —Susan Zaba, Florissant, Colorado
