No Gel in This Gelatin

ONE SUMMER DAY, we were invited to a picnic. Since I had small children, the hostess suggested I bring a gelatin salad that I could make ahead.

I mixed it in the morning and put it in the refrigerator to partially set before adding the fruit. I kept checking, but the gelatin wasn't setting at all. I thought maybe the directions for making it had changed, so I went to the garbage can to retrieve the box. What a surprise I got! I had used Kool-Aid by mistake.
