Spilled salt

Need to reduce salt from other dishes? It's easy to do by simply omitting the salt or replacing common high-sodium ingredients with their low-sodium counterparts.

To use each chart, follow these instructions:

  1. Find the ingredient you'd like to eliminate or substitute from one of the three tables below.
  2. Select the number of servings your recipe provides from the top row.
  3. Find the appropriate ingredient amount called for in the recipe from the left-hand column.
  4. Trace across to find the milligrams of sodium you can save per serving by making this change.
  5. Subtract that number from the total milligrams of sodium listed in the Nutrition Facts to determine how many milligrams of sodium you can save per serving.

With a little practice, we're sure this chart will become a much-used tool for those hoping to reduce sodium. Print it out and save it with your favorite recipes.
