Spicy Chili and Hazelnut Wheat Bread

Spicy Three-Bean Chili

Warm up your day with all-vegetable Spicy Three-Bean Chili (shown at right) and slices of Hazelnut Wheat Bread.

"Even my meat-loving family devours this hearty meatless Spicy Three-Bean Chili," says Melissa Mendez of Gilbert, Minnesota. "Since it's more fun to eat with your hands, we scoop it up with chips! It's fast, simple to make and freezes well."

Says Ruth Fanger of Monroe, Oregon, "I developed this recipe in an effort to match the flavors of our favorite store-bought bread, adapting it to a recipe in my bread machine manual. Hazelnut Wheat Bread is a hearty, great-tasting loaf!"

APPEALING PARTNERS

  • Hot chocolate
  • Sliced pears sprinkled with cinnamon

PRACTICAL TIPS

  • If you’re not a fan of spicy foods, eliminate the jalapeno pepper and cayenne in the chili. Substitute plain fat-free refried beans for the spicy variety.
  • Leftover Hazelnut Wheat Bread is great for hearty sandwiches over the weekend.
