Mess-Free Corn on the Cob

When my four children were small, one of the “mess-saving” things I did was to butter corn on the cob using a slice of bread. I’d spread butter on a piece of bread—sometimes the heel of the loaf—and wrap it around an ear of corn. Then I’d simply twist the cob to butter it thoroughly. As I buttered more ears of corn, I’d add more butter to the bread. Now our children are grown and use this method, too. —Shirley Zapf, Bismarck, Missouri
