Ruth Macy of Barre, Vermont has an easy way to dress up a boxed cookie mix. “I combine 1/3 cup of baking cocoa with 1/4 teaspoon each of nutmeg and cinnamon,” she says. “I add this to the mix for a quick and tasty change of pace.”
For dessert on the double, Melissa Van Bramer’s luscious Snickerdoodle Sundaes can’t be beat. She whipped up the easy caramel-topped recipe with her two daughters in Pickerington, Ohio and says, “It’s so simple (but special enough) to fix for guests. And it always brings raves.”
"Because you start with a store-bought cookie mix, it takes no time at all to make these minty treats," says Christina Hitchcook of Blakely, Pennsylvania. She usually drizzles melted chocolate chips over the cookie tops, but pink candy coating looks lovely for Valentine's Day.
When my children were younger, we'd make dozens of different cookies and candies. Then we'd pack up an assortment of each and deliver them to friends. These mouthwatering wafers were always a favorite.—Phyl Broich-Wessling, Garner, Iowa
