Simple Salt Cutbacks

Choose fresh vegetables when possible, or frozen or canned vegetables with no salt added. Rinse canned foods, such as tuna, to remove some of the sodium. Cook rice, pasta and hot cereals without added salt. Try preparing foods with half the suggested amount of salt called for in the recipe. Watch your intake or high-salt foods such as bacon, sausage, cheese and breakfast cereals.
