Using Foil When Making Bars

Bake bars in a foil-lined pan - greasing it according to the recipe's directions. Use the foil to lift bars out of the pan after they've cooled. Then trim the edges and use a ruler to score the lines to cut. Use a serrated knife and cut the bars straight downward (instead of using a sawing motion). For frosted bars and cakes, wipe the knife clean between cuts. If needed, you may dip the knife in warm water and wipe it off before cutting through frosted items.

Allow pies to cool completely before cutting. It is recommended that you use a very sharp knife to cut through the crust. But keep in mind, even in the photo studio, our first pieces are not always perfect.
