Shaping Dinner Rolls

Plain Rolls

Divide dough into equal pieces as recipe directs. Shape each piece into a ball, pulling edges under the smooth top. Place 1 in. to 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. For pan rolls, place eight balls in a greased 9-in. round baking pan or 12 balls in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan.

Cloverleaf Rolls

Divide dough into 1-1/2-in. balls. Make each ball smooth by pulling the edges under. Place three balls smooth side up in each greased muffin cup.

S-Shaped Rolls

Divide dough into 2-in. balls. Shape each ball into a 10-in. rope. On a greased baking sheet, coil each end in opposite directions until it touches the center and forms an S-shape.

Knot-Shaped Rolls

Divide dough into 3-in. balls. Roll each ball into a 10-in. rope; tie into a knot. Tuck and pinch ends under.
